I'm pretty sure that we all have a buddy who tags along on a day of paintball ,usually within a hour or so his marker will fail or just refuse to work.
I was in that boat maybe a few months ago where i had my buddy Sean tag along with me out to Tombstone park roughly 2 hours in he was reduced to 1 bps by his crappy Spyder Pilot ( i think it was either that or electra model) so i offered him the use of my older etek 2 (which has since been traded ),he was eager to get his hands on a machine gun (he is semi-noob) so i took his tank and hopper and attached it on to the Etek 2 and off we went to the Trenches field,right before game start i showed him the simple on off procedure and told him fire off a few balls ..To my shock he ripped 2 shots which maybe went a total of 10 feet with a simple soft fpppttttt sound ,To cut a long story short he ended up sitting out that game because the Etek 2 was a no go ,turns out i had over lubed it and the airflow was blocked hence the low velocity.
Since that day i had the thought of what would be a ideal low cost fool proof loaner gun,i know a few folk are gonna say custom 98 or A-5 but ive been down that road kinda bulk and i know if i got another A-5 i would have the urge to turn it into a MP-5 or something,so i took the road heavily travelled and went over to the dark side and picked up a S.P ION ...Give me a chance to explain the dammed deed i did.
1 I think everyone at some point has shot a ion and its pretty idiot proof ,even a marine could use it lol ")
2.Easy to maintain.feed it lube once a decade and your good to go !
3.Cheap cheap cheap ,the one i purchase (on another forum :() cost me $37 i just needed a board (Blackheart board $65 ,a asa $5 )
So basically now i have the no fear here shoot this loaner marker now covered,yeah i know they are a dime a dozen but now i wont worry when its raining outside and i dont want to risk the boards on my Planet Eclipse Markers ,easy as pie just grab the ion and no worries ..
I know alot of Ion owners like to brag about all the ups on their markers and that their marker can shoot 100 bps mine is bone stock and therefore less likely to break now and leave me in the hole
Id like to hear feedback from you guys on your ion..
