The Normandy landings were the landing operations of the Allied invasion of Normandy, also known as Operation Neptune and Operation Overlord, during World War II. The landings commenced on Tuesday, 6 June 1944 (D-Day), beginning at 6:30 AM British Double Summer Time. In planning, D-Day was the term used for the day of actual landing.
The assault was conducted in two phases: an air assault landing of 24,000 British, American, Canadian and Free French airborne troops shortly after midnight, and an amphibious landing of Allied infantry and armoured divisions on the coast of France commencing at 6:30 AM.
The operation was the largest amphibious invasion of all time, with over 160,000 troops landing on 6 June 1944. 195,700 Allied naval and merchant navy personnel in over 5,000 ships were involved. The invasion required the transport of soldiers and material from the United Kingdom by troop-laden aircraft and ships, the assault landings, air support, naval interdiction of the English Channel and naval fire-support. The landings took place along a 50-mile (80 km) stretch of the Normandy coast divided into five sectors: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword.

This Game will focus on the air assault and the Omaha landing.

The Big Game will be $30.00 early registration and $35.00 the day of the event.
Paintballs will be $35.00 for 2000 rounds if purchased early (cut-off will be (9-15-10)) and $45.00 the day of the event.

Check-in will begin at 9:00 am and we advise early registration. Teams will be detirmined by the color of your cloths.
Very Imporntant: Teams will be detirmined by the color of your cloths. Light colored uniforms will be on the Allied team - Dark colored uniforms will be on the Axis team
Once you've checked in you will gear up and head to your positions - Many of you will be imbedded deep in the fields The Axis team will have many bases to defend and the Allied will have air assult elements that will be placed.
We will have some transportation for those placed farther away; and although you will not storm the beach, there will be quick action from the air assult element.
the Beach assult will walk to their positions upon check-in. We will have several Higgins boats for the allied forces and pill boxes and a heavy machine gun for the Axis in addition to trenchs.
The scenario will begin PROMPTLY at 10:30 and will run until 2:00 when we break for lunch. Lunch will have prize give-aways and messages from our sponcers.
LUNCH - hot dogs- $1.00 - Hamburgers $2.00 - sodas and bottled waters $1.00 - Gatoraid and Poweraid - $2.00 - candy and chips $1.00

After Lunch - The battle to take Bastogne.
This part of the scenario will begin at 3:30 and will run until the city has been cocured. In the event the city is concured quickly we will switch places and run an Axis counter attack.
EXTRA: During lunch and at the end of the day we will four 1 on 1 pistol matches in the city. There will be an additional fee to enter and the winners will each win a type of pistol (to be determined by our sponcers). This will be a double elemination event. Each player will have 8 rounds of ammo and one target.

Airsoft players who show up on sept 25 will have exclusive use of the Urban city during the morning and afternoon hours, and will play in the woods after lunch.

In the past I've made some "cartoon" targets by doing some acrylic paintings on a thin wood board. I'm going to do some test to see if people in paintball and airsoft would be interested buying some of these. What I need is some reference shots of people in uniform to make other interesting targets. I'm sending out this note to you guys in case you would like to pose for one of the targets. Just choose one of the below options and take a picture of yourself in your gear and paintball or real fire arm of your choice. (do not send in rehashed photos of you playing paintball) The targets are mainly from the torso up, but if you would like to send a full body photo that's fine too. You can either upload the photos to your facebook and let me know of them or send them to moth34@comcast.net. Thanks and I'd appreciate any help.

Good Guys- Needing several poses. One talking on radio. One throwing a grenade. One pointing his rifle. One in relaxed stance holding rifle. One pointing a pistol and one guy pointing his finger. Also think in terms of the backs of these poses. Gear that you can use: Any BDU's used in the past 10 years, patterns only, no single color. Metal plate carriers, any harness system. Boonie Hats are preferred. You can use shooter caps if you can pull it off. Patrol caps are also allowed, sunglasses, shemags around the neck. Earpieces , throat mics. Wearing no hat is acceptable also.

Bad Guys-Needing several poses. One talking on the radio. One throwing a grenade. One pointing his rifle. One in a relaxed stance holding rifle. One pointing a pistol. Also think in terms of the backs of these poses. Gear that you can use: Shemags, head wraps, anything that can cover the bottom of your face, sunglases, any solid color BDU, woodland mixed with other garments. Old harnesses, any military equipment before 1980. Anything that would make you look like a terrorist or middle eastener.

Oklahoma DDay 2010 :The Furthest Point

The Ref's were asking us to move to the back of the boat. The Boat is to resemble the Higgins boats that made the landing on June 6th 1944. The construction didn't look too much like the real thing, but what was about to happen was pretty close to what's been reported over the years. As I waited in the back of the boat, many others were further back than me. We were allied players, storming the beach of Sword. The German players laid entrenched up a hillside ahead of us. It seemed that the Germans were little skittish. They had no problem filling up the back bunkers but the refs had to escort some to the front most bunkers not 70 feet away from us. The Allied players were getting anxious. I was wondering if I felt as unnerved as I was the first time I did a beach landing at OK DDay in 2003, not anywhere close. I can now say I was so nervous and excited that first time that I'm not sure my feet were touching the ground. Now, I knew what the score was. I knew once we started out that boat that I may not make the first insert. I looked at my watch, it said 9:54. 6 Minutes till game start. Some people around me started asking for the time. My watch was wrong, because at 9:58 the refs started the game. This startled the front players of the boat. They triple checked the ref to make sure it was game on. The ref replied loudly "Yes! Game ON!" Allied players started running out the boat doors. The closer I came to the front of the boat, the more the sound of paintguns going off intensified. The player in front of me took off, now its my turn. I was worried I might slip or fall or not be able to get traction, but that wasn't a concern at all. I did fine on my movement. I shot in the general direction of my opposition. I decided to veer right, cross the road and go prone at the embankment. It happened but not without me being hit many times. I raised my marker in the air and started to head back to the boat for reinsert. I wondered if it would be like it was on Omaha beach years ago where I got pelted on leaving the playing area. It wasn't as bad this time, but I did need to move fast because that whole road the allied was crossing was a kill box. Subsequent inserts became less and less violent. We was pushing them back and taking them out.

I kept making pushes up the right side of that hill. Sometimes in prone position, other times in a crouching tree to tree movement. One of the last times I made it half way up the hill with hardly any opposition. I wasn't sure if I could go further by myself. So I turned my back to the tree and looked down. I saw many allied players at the road trying to decide what to do. Many saw where I was but wasn't sure if they could make it. I then remembered a tactic used by a airsoft player in a game to defend a fort. The player had one side of the fort and as long as he stayed there, our side got the points, but he needed help. So he would plead with our players "COME ON BLUE, HURRY BLUE, WE NEED YOU HERE, RUN, RUN BLUE RUN, HURRY!". He said this in a loud voice but he wasn't screeching it, and it got to ya if you was blue. You hated to leave him there alone. He motivated.

So looking down on these blue players at the road, I figured this would be a good time. "COME ON BLUE, YOU CAN DO IT, COME ON, COME ON BLUE, UP HERE!" and they started to move, and move fast. Not only did it motivate a forward movement, but a flank on my right to move up. Sadly, where I was , was the furthest point on that flank. As soon as allied filled the area it came under fire from my 12 o'clock. I eventually pissed off that bunker enough to be receiving round after round on the tree infront of me. Eventually I was hit out and a person next to me. On further review, our side moving up gave the left enough room to take and hold the building ahead of it and even start to cross the road up the hill from it. Bounding at its finest. This is how a beach landing is. This is Sword beach at Oklahoma DDAY 2010.

I've been checing out the AirStar Nova recently and I am quite interested. If you dont know about this gun yet; it is discontinued and the company has bit the dust, it has a fairly unique system inside, and is quiet as hell. The Nova utilizes a reciprocating barrel to chamber each round, and as you would imagine there arnt any after market barrels. I've been drooling over this gun for the past month and a half now, and while im not in the market for one I am open for donations :happy. joking joking, dont send me your guns.

But here are my ideas.
1. A straight up vintage Nova, with the Heavenly anno of course.
2. A tuned Nova, with aftermarket parts to make if more efficient and so on. Then have it anno'd with a color scheme, make it look pretty.
3. This idea is the combination of my want for an old gun and milsim. Working from a black Nova base. Cut out a section of the foam around the barrel, then JB weld a picatinny rail to the bottom, then add a tactical grip (folding). JB weld another rail on to the top of the body, offset maybe, then attach a reflex or scope. The site will mostly be for looks, but who knows it might work out. If I figure out the pattern then I should get a "spread sight" so to speak. Then of course the buttstock, I kind want something skeletony. I might add more rails around the barrel for a flashlight. For the loader I'm thinking about a spring clip like the longbow, the only thing about a clip system is that I have no idea of how to make it work aestheticly. I know that there are speedballers out there right now screaming, but the only alternative is an aggitating hopper. If I use a force feed, then there will be double, triple feeding issues.

Well thats my story on the Nova, what are your thoughts?

Being a Leader:Responsibility

What happens when you say yes to being a leader in paintball? What happens when you agree to be the general of a scenario game? What happens when...

What happens when you say yes to being a leader in paintball? What happens when you agree to be the general of a scenario game? What happens when you become unit commander, team sergeant or Camp coordinator?
What happens? You own the role, that's what happens.

But what does this mean? It means you signed up for everything that role demands of you. Is it life or death? Not entirely, but what if one of your teammates needs medical help? I could go through all the points of a leadership role but here is my main point.

" A leader is responsible for everything that does and does not happen on the field."

This includes all excuses. If you tell someone to do something, and show them how and they still do it wrong, your ultimately at fault. Yes, it's ok for a leader to show someone where they went wrong, but at the end of the day, its still the leaders decisions that make or break what happens.

I know a player that is a great on the field commander and excellent general for scenario games. He was a teammate of mine on the Pukin Dogs, named Tony Claude. His mind was always in the game, as much as possible. He wasn't perfect mind you, but he could deliever most of the time. How did he do this? He owned the role. He took responsiblities for his actions and duties. Players where counting on him to lead, and he never let you down, even if your side lost. He did this by taking the blame. He would assume responsibility for the loss even if he knew team xyz wasn't pulling their weight. This is a true sign of being dependable, folks, and by doing so, it makes him more of a true leader. Even after such a loss, I would be under his command again.

So , next time you sign up for that high profile position, know what your saying to yourself and others. Your saying, I'm responsible, I'm dependable, I will lead.

Just in case you wanted to know about what to do when hit, heres the General Scenario Rules of Play official rule...

You should immediately call out "HIT!" in a loud voice and continue to do so while putting on your BBD (barrel blocking device). Leave the field by the safest direct route while continuing to call out your status as a dead player. If you are in an area that is taking heavy fire - such as a bunker with other players or in your base while it's under heavy assault - get your gun up as high as possible and get out of the way fast! Do not talk, hand equipment or ammunition to your teammates and do not continue to participate in radio chatter about on-field events. You are DEAD and dead men can no longer help their team. If you are holding a mission card and you have teammates nearby who were on the same mission as you, you MAY hand the mission card to one of them so that they may complete the mission. Proceed to the hospital zone to await the next insertion time, or to the staging area to reload on fluids, ammo & air.

Her momma is none to happy though. She doesn't understand paint ball or why anyone would want to play it.
Well I guess I am just going to havta outfit my little girl and teach her the rules and just enjoy playing with my child.
If many "I"s become one, then that one will have many eyes. And with many eyes, alot more will be seen.
I have my ex as my "cricket". He is the team counseller, even though I hold the degree. If we were induviduals, then many issues would pop off. But with his guidance, we are a balanced team.
I have a bunch of goofs, as many will find that I am off the field. But with out their playfulness we would be a bunch of butts that no one would want to play with.
I think that teammates that are on a few teams are well rounded players. They see the good and bad in both, and help in that area.
In life, you will never be alone. So what I tell many team is the same that a mean old "Chief" told me, "you will barely survive this, if you work alone. But as a team, you will be not be stopped!" A moment later we where out the helo, and started S.E.A.R. phase.
If you want to be alone, fine. There are many ways that you can go. But if you want a team then find one, love them and have fun.

Haven't done one of these in many moons; mainly because I am lazy as hell and Neinow gets a child like grin when he does them so I try and leave such doings to him. However this time there was no Neinow to write said ARR and I am feeling somewhat inspired this Monday AM and well I am rambling now..

I have wanted to head to Splatbrothers for a couple years now. it has been a name I kept hearing and hearing and hearing. PCM's original plan was to hit the 26Hour Operation Onslaught game. Sadly it fell really close to MPP Charleston in March and financial constraints led to most of the PCM clan to miss that one. As such we hit the very next opportunity The Alamo.

Some of the perks Splatbrothers offers are things I think every field should start looking into and NOW. First off being no Air Fees on 8 hr games. I understand air fee's being an issue on 24-26 hour games for the load on the equipment and possibly need to rent equipment and hire people to run such. That said a smooth 20$ reg fee and then 3 grades of paint to choose from, Red Legion and Marbs, really felt nice. Second was accommodations. Splat has worked out a rate with the local Comfort Inn (roughly 15-20mins away) of $62 a night. This is a great value. Especially considering having 5 people per room makes this less than 15$ a person per night and they have complimentary breakfast of waffles/bacon/sausage/fruits/pastries. What more could a poor paintballer want! Last perk that really stood out was the electronic registration. Once you log your info into their system all you have to do is type in a phone number at future games and you are good to go. One of the field reps said this makes the registration process FLY by now. This is a great line killer for big games. The line felt like a busy rec day more than a 100 person 8 hr game. I just can't speak highly enough of this process!

The field is had to compare to others. It has a roughly square shape. As you walk through the big front doors a large village area greets you. With several old barns, TONs of 2-4 man sized bunkers and a deep valley with a small stream running down the middle of this area. To me this is one of the nicest playing area's I have ever been in. From my limited time there it appears to be very balanced with opportunities for both sides to make pushes down and up the other side of this valley. I can only imagine the paint storms that could brew down there in a 24 hour game. On the Splat Kong side of this area on top of the hill is a very nice spool field which led back to our base. Again, very well developed area's which lead to some intense fire fights. On the other side of the main valley you walk through some nice brick/cinderblock structures and 2 store barn and into the Splat Brothers Towers area which is one of a kind in my book. I found the tower area to also play very evenly with opportunities to take and lose real estate. Heading into the back of the field was thick vegetation and a couple more structures. Honestly I never had a big opportunity to get all the way to the back, but a couple of the PCM clan did and they said it was a nice contrast to the "urban" area at the front of the field. With more woods and sneaky sneaky fighting areas.

Enough of building up Splats ego;), let’s talk game stuffs.

Picking a side was fairly easy for us. We only really know 3 VA team all that well, those being SSK, SOVA, and SAD. I am happy to say now we have all kinds of friends to hang with after this weekend :). We chatted with Willow of SoVa and Flair of SSK to find the Mexican side was for us. Thus we registered and soon game day was upon us.

Prince John from Affliction did a fine job, he followed my Rule #1 for generalling: Be approachable!. He saved us a Medic card as promised and was open to our request to just "Cause Trouble" by asking us to flank his mission teams and be on call as a 2ndary mission squad . I handed him a radio tuned to our channel and away we went.

I must say it was a pleasure working with all the Mexicans. We fell in with a big group of AnB and headed dutifully towards the Texian's base. I knew it was going too well when we had them basically surrounded in the first 30 mins of the game. Sure enough the price of victory was empty pods and air and some pissed off Texians storming out and pushing the skirmish line back tot he middle of the field around hour 2. And thus was our day spent moving with the skirmish line up and down that DAMNED VALLEY HILL! (LOL!).
I was lucky enough to run some escort for a couple of mission cards and role players while the rest of PCM found themselves drawn into the thick of the fighting several times. Except for Hollywood who I hear found himself drawn to the Texian's base a couple times during the day, how he snuck up on you guys with that loud mouth of his I will never know....
I will thank the Texian's for ceasing fire relatively quickly after my minorly successful attempt to run and distract them as BEE from SOVA went to snatch down some demo tape.

Generally speaking I found a good level of sportsmanship throughout the game. Every game has it's heated moments but overall this game and the players at Splat showed very high sportsmanship.

Closing this thing up now.

Thanks to everyone who made us feel at home this weekend. Both allies and enemies on the field stopped by out little area and greeted us and thanked us for making the drive up for an 8hr game. As usual with scenario players we are all family in the parking lots. Thanks to Prince John from Affliction for the MVT, and Thanks to Rook from OFU for the MFO Award to Hollywood (as if his ego needed any stroking!). Special thanks to Flair from SSK for lettings us share his shade and our buddies from SoVa . PCM had a great time and will be back.

I have three events that are coming up with in the next few month. And I just want to get out there and play.
But running a walkon day will always be my fun one. Thankfully I will not be the primary target on this day. Have one of my part-timers, Paintcheck, is the focus on this day.
Then we will be heading up to Line of Fire, for the fun day. Everytime that we have gone there, we have had a blast. They have great staff and a fun town setup for tight play.
And today i will be painting my spare mask for my Joker play.
