IM guessing your meaning between the Regulator and the Bonnet with the threads on it.

THe bonnet has 2 allen screws in it. Youll need to remove these then use a strap wrench to take the bonnet off. inside there is an o-ring that seals the bonnet to the regulator, something is wrong with this.

Personally i would just take it to a store with an air tech..

try this. there is might be some loctite in the threads so it will be hard to take apart. and be sure to put a little bit in the threads when putting it back together.

you don't need much

If you don't have any idea which regulator it is DON'T MESS WITH IT! If you must fool with it, be sure to completely drain the tank before you do ANYTHING else. Some regs, especially Pure Energy leak from the weep hole and they are NOT user serviceable. Some are serviceable with allen screw bonnet removal and a kit from PMI. Crossfires are not user or shop servicable at all. Air America's and the latest Nitro Duck I-Reg's are serviceable, but they are not easy to fool with. Some are reverse threaded and you can try all you want and they won't come apart. There are lots of different reg manufacturers and each one is different. Do as soco said and bring it to a shop with a qualified air tech. Or figure out what kind of reg it is and call the manufacturer, (or me at the shop) and see what they recommend. BM123 and soco sound likethey know what they're doing to some extent. You don't have that experience. Don't play with something that could hurt you, HR.

thanks guys. i found a tech here locally who says he most likely can fix it. the guy i bought this from said it was in great shape and that he had put a new reg on it. then when i said it leaks, he told me that the guy that filled it probably did a slam fill and the oring got pinched. he told me that i can fix it myself and that its easy and all that jazz. im just going to take it to a tech. if it went off like a patriot missle and hurt someone or myself, i would be highly upset... or dead.

its a pure energy tank with a pmi slide check regulator.
