Scuba tanks

This is a good time to start this thread. My son, who is also on this board and will remain nameless, and I play a lot of rec ball. I was thinking of getting a scuba tank so that our air sucking mutated mags don’t leave us down and out in the middle of the woods and we have to drive ten minutes back down the road to refill them at an elevated rate, “no PBC this is not you guys.”

What are everyone’s thoughts on a scuba tank setup? Also has anyone seen a scuba tank that holds 4500 psi?

I have used scuba's for over a year not and love it. When i started with my son and daughter, one tank would last us all day and have enough left over to play around at home. Those were the days all three of us would share a case. I miss those days. Now i use 2 scuba's and cascade them. Still takes care of all of us. The norm for scuba's are 80cf/3000psi. They do make higher pressure scuba's but they are really heavy and expensive. I costs me $2.33 to fill a scuba with a fill card, so you can see how much money can be saved, but the best part is i can work and test at home.

My daughter plays front now and has a 45/45. when you fill a 4500psi tank with a 3000psi scube, at best you're only filling the tank to 2/3's capacity. That's why i only have 3000psi tanks.

Hope this helps. If you have any more? pm me.

yeah but then u have to get a fill station that can reg it down to a useable pressure and it is alot more complex than u think it is.

all the fill station does is to have a way to connect the tank to the scuba with a bleed valve. It has nothing to do with regilating the pressure. what ever tank has the higher pressure, it will equalize both tanks to that pressure.

Those tanks are pressurized to about 8000 psi. Does your nitro take hold that. Ok so i guess you might need a reg.

Nitrogen tanks have something called a fill nipple so the tanks wont equalize. If the pressure against the fill nipple (output on the scuba) is less that the other presssure (tank pressure) it wont open.

The scuba tank is a good way to go if you are playing renegade ball. Many people buy them and want to use them at a licensed field. If the field you play at is insured typically their insurance will not cover an individual doing self fills with scuba equipment. That is why fields will not allow them on their property. It is not because they want to make money off the fills, but rather the liability that is involved with fill stations.

Any way you fill a tank, using another tank, it is equalizing the pressure, as there is no compresser. Higher pressure always flows to a lower pressure area when it can, because it tries to equalize the pressure between the two. How else would it work? Exactly, it wouldn't. It's basic 3rd grade science. You're right in saying the pressure going into the tank has to be more than whats already in it.

OK kids play nice. Let me narrow the bandwidth of my thought. What type of fill should I get if I use one, I here all kinds of stuff about dried air and such. Also where is a good place to buy one (besides eBay).
