Mag Questions, Trigger Adjustment?

Howdy folks.
I have been playing for a number of years now; always with my original Tipp 98.
I do have available an older Auotmag, I believe a .68.
Question 1. The trigger seems a little heavy. Is that adjustable? If so, how?
Question 2. The barrel is okay,,,,I guess. About 12-14" long with straight rifling. Is there the quentisentail barrel for an Automag? I know everyone has their preference. Is there and agreed upon barrel that just about everybody would be happy to have? Maybe I already have it!

I have been dealing with accuracy issues. I really like my Tipp, but have trouble with errant balls and have thought a switch to the mag might help.
I have added an expansion chamber and remote to compensate for CO2 trouble. I have not played with it yet. Just trying to gather some ideas.

Mags do tend to be a bit heavier in the trigger than other markers. That is just one of their personalities.

As for adjusting the triggers…. I would not doubt that there is a way, but none comes to mind at the moment. With the RT Valves you can adjust the reactiveness of the trigger by increasing the input pressure, but that only makes it “snappier”, not really any lighter.

Barrels… That depends on what barrel you got with the marker. I don’t like the Crown Points, but the standard stock barrel that is black with a chromed tip is fine for most paints. I suggest that before you spend any money “upgrading” your barrel that you see how it works with the paint you normally use. I still use the stock barrel with my RTPro and it has always shot darts and worked with any paint I put through it.

CO2 and consistency….. Yes, if you have an older Mag (pre RT Valve) CO2 is fine. If you are running a remote though you may not really need that expansion chamber. Remotes are great in that they work both as an expansion device AND reduce liquid reaching the valve. Some folks don’t like remotes, but I personally do depending on what setup I am running. I don’t use one on my Mag, but do on my Stroker in pistol mode.

So I really don’t see any consistence issues headed your way.

Have fun, Mags are a different animal. Some folks love them, others hate them. Me? I love them, but wish that AGD did not limit their newer (RT and newer) markers to HPA only. There is a slight modification that can be done to allow for CO2, but I feel that most folks simply would not want to mess with it…. and neither do I.

same here, my e-mag came with 2 old bodies, with stck barrel and a freak kit(only 2 inserts). to me, the stock barrel worked with almost anypaint, ans was nice and compact, without and difference in range.

There are some things you can do to lighten up the trigger pull of an Automag.

1) Use the gun, a mag takes a little wear in time for the sear. Usually 1-2 cases of paint will result in a little smoother sear action

2) The next is polishing the sear. Warning though you can destroy a sear very easily

Are you coming to Cartoon Wars at TT? If so stop by the SC Roadkill camp and I show you some things you can do.

Me personnally I like a firm trigger. I can not stand the super light triggers on most electro guns and I'm not even crazy about the ule trigger for the Mag. I guess this comes from my background in High Power Rifle competition.

Too MAny to Quote!

Thanks for the info.
As I said, I am not sure if this is the stock barrel. I am certainly gonna use it some before I spend on it.

Remote and expansion chamber cost me nothing. I have always like using a remote and the exp. cham. came off another unused marker. The only time I have ever tried this gun it was just a tank on a vertical,,,, nope, didn't work too good. Seems the faster I tried shoot the shorter my range was, lagging pressures?

Grendel, I will be there for Blackhawk (with six others! HOORAH!!!!) and will look you up then!

I am not exactly a mag guy, heck I am a huge cocker fan, just ask anyone, but I do know a few tricks that will help with the trigger. The reason I am a cocker fan, other than the fact that I can't shoot a mag to save my life, is that I can tune a cocker to anyone's liking. Definately stop by the SCRK campsite, as there are plenty of guys that can do magic with a mag. Heck, they had my old mag running so sweet anyone could roll with it, except me. Once you meet me you will understand. I am old and crotchety, but I will never talk bad about any of the old guns, even if I can't shoot them. For tech work (magic) on Mags ask for Grendel, Skeeter, or Brad.

I am aware of that happening
I am also aware that two teen-aged boys and a wife in grad school tends to keep a man nearer than to the house than most guys! Always something to repair, build fix and clean,,,,,,,
not to mention the lack of cash flow!

I/We will be making some scenario games this summer. Super 61 is a definate.
Hopefully some of the "Brothers in Arms" games. just have to see what I can swing with time and financial constraints!

What you are experiencing is shoot down and this is due to insufficient time between shoots for the valve to fully recharge. Basically you have diminishing returns after a couple of shots there is less co2 to propel the ball therefore decrease in fps. If you stop firing for a moment your velocity on the next shot should be back up where it should be. You most likely have an earlier on/off valve and this can be easily upgraded/modified to improve shoot down. AGD has a nice trade in program where you can trade your old setup on a new one plus a little cash and this will get rid of any shoot down problem plus it includes the Lvl10 upgrade and the ability to RT in one package. But if this is out of your reach right now there are some things we can do to your gun to improve it without a lot of expense. I've been using Mags for a long time 10+years and from my experience once you get a mag running the way you like leave it alone do not tear it down replace parts...etc unless it is absolutely needed. When you are done using a mag whip it down and oil it, the only times I've had problems with my Mag is after I change parts/seals.
