Is the tac one a good replacement for a A5?

Oh gurus of the caliber 68.
I'm thinking it's time to move up from the A5. While it looks awesome and is very reliable, I'm looking for something a little lighter, faster and more accurate.

I had initially thought of a vision shocker. I can get one at a really good price.

Then I came across the tac one. It seems to be pretty much everything I want:
It's not electronic, (which is a plus in my book. I figured I'd get used to it with a shocker)

From what I've read it's pretty fast, light and accurate. Just what I'm looking for. My question is this: Am I going to notice a huge difference over the A5? I know that it may not have the range of my flatline, but I think the speed and accuracy should make up for that.

Comments are very welcome, along with other reccomendations.

Braveheart.

Our Mike Anderson "Captain Morgain" from Splinter Cell has one & loves it. I have shot it. Its got great speed & acc with a good barrel. I shot a VF Tactical I got from YOUR Mike Anderson "Castro" & I like it better. Its all personal taste............... I think you would really like it......

Just my 2 cents

the TAC One is everything you would want in a mag. The double style grip, trigger mod, xvalve if im correct, and an awesome looking body. Id take one.

I'm not selling the A5. I still love it, it's just not the gun to play speed/hyperball with.
And at least it's not fooked.

if you arn't sure about the mag, you can use mine at the field for a while next time you go. it will be a little heavier because of the batterypack and e-mag frame, but you can just leave it in mech mode to get the feel of it.

Good choice for a step up

Mags have always been one of the best shooting non-electro markers on the planet. A stock trigger is good, a ULE trigger is even better. Very accurate, and a big improvement over the Tippmann (and I am a big fan of the A-5 and the '98 as well). You won't regret a penny of the investment.

As folks posted, it is a great marker. It is essentially an RT Pro with a new body. And I have said for years that RT Pro’s were “electro-killers”. And when I brought mine to fields folks swore I was using an e-framed marker.

With that said, contrary to popular belief, no marker is any more, or less, accurate than another simply because it is another marker. Many things combine to cause a marker to be accurate or not and those things exist for every marker on the market. If you address each issue that caused accuracy problems, you can get any marker to be as accurate as any other.

Mags on the other hand tend to be love them or hate them markers. Anyone looking to get a Mag should really try them first because of this.

As for if they are worth every penny, that is subjective. I have always thought Mags were overpriced for what folks got. Yes, they are a great marker. Yes they can obtain good speeds. Yes they are generally high quality (although I admit I have seen some that were lacking). But feature for feature, and best bang for your buck, they fall short IMHO. And the fact that you can only run HPA with all but the classic valves (some will argue this is not accurate, but if you look at AGD’s site, it clearly states they are for HPA ONLY) is a drawback in my opinion as well.

AGD made the new body so it would accept the things scenario and woodsball players like to put on their markers, but I don’t consider the Tac-One a true scenario marker. I consider it a stepping stone for AGD and a good one, but not quite “there” yet. For me it is the “El Camino” of scenario markers.

I hope this helps put a wider opinion and viewpoint on the marker. If you really want one and can afford it (and like the way they feel when shooting them) then you will truly love your Tac-One. If not, you may consider another marker, or possibly upgrading you’re A-5 (keep in mind I have NO idea what state you’re A-5 is in now).

With that said, I don’t personally consider moving from an A-5 to the Tac-One an “upgrade”, more of a step to the side. And if you are considering the marker NOT for scenario use, but truly for speedball, you may want to simply get an RT Pro, which is the same marker but with a different body (more stylized for speedball). They are priced higher on AGD’s site I believe, but ALL their markers are priced higher than what you need to pay for them.

To get the best deals, do NOT buy directly from AGD. Feel free to use their online shop to window shop, but then go to a Dealer to get the actual marker or item. AGD set it up this way so that if people could not find what they wanted locally, they could go direct, but keep prices high so that their Dealers would be the first line of sales. Automags.org has a Dealer’s section which has a few dealers that will be more than happy to give folks the very best prices available.
