A properly set up A1 is a great marker. I have seen the paint that Joy used, and it was extremely fragile.
Any marker will still have to be set up for cold weather use. Poppet valves would be a little better off than spool valves I'd think, due to the lube in a spool getting cold and causing fsdo.

Hellfire and my boy's Shocker have a love affair. That stuff will break on 1 blade of grass but not in his barrel. I think it's the way the gun is set up not necessarily the manufacturer, and just for the record I'm an Big Angel guy.

i can second mr. bolden... i mean death's (mr bolden lol), comment, gagies shocker are amazing. i dont know what it is, but the hellfire works like magic in the heat or cold. i have also heard nothing but bad things about the a1 so i would give it more time to tweak the bugs out of it b4 buying one if anyone is considering it
