Got my 2 cents worth.Just installed a new flatline out the box on my 98 custom pro.Ran 5 brands paint through it (hellfire,blaze,midnight,scorch and zap). Set my vel at 280.Was not impressed.Does shoot flatter.Yes,er,does still arc some.Was no where near as accurate as it was claimed to be.Alot of flyers .shot it at varying distances.50 feet,75,100,125,150.paint all over the place.Changed velocity up and down,not much change.If it is as accurate as claimed,it must be ultra pickey about paint size and such.Put my 12" werks barrel on,can load up the target.And it's not too particular.Gonna shoot it and maybe try out a 14" J&J.

I would just save up and get a barrel kit. I've had my Freak kit for years and it has more than payed for itself in the amount of grief it has saved me having to deal with paint that does not fit your barrel right. I've use it on a 98custom a sniper and an Ion and it made a big improvement on all. Pay now or pay later.

Patience, that blending of moral courage with physical self control.

I like my Freak. Its worth the money. I also have a Karner kit for my Cocker & lits great also. I use the freak on my Shocker & the Karner on my Cockers. I dont think you will be happy with a flatline. I know a lot of people who bought them & them dumped'em. ANY KIT you like would be better IMO.
Good luck.

Yeah flatlines are really meant for barrages of paint from long range. You give up accuracy for that distance. It helps to have a paint smaller than the flatline bore (which I forget) to allow it to spin better, and the biggest problem with flatline accuracy is usually getting oil into the region of the gun behind the detente where paint feeds into the marker. Oil reduces the ability of the barrel to get consistent spin on the ball.

ok now my opinion, I have a freak kit that I use on 1 of my 98C, my ION, and on my cocker...but I also have a 98C with a flatline, stock etc. I have discovered that a flatline barrell takes a little getting used to..lets call it a learning curve. you have to try to keep the marker as straight up as possible, any tilt one way or the other will tell on you at the longer distances (ball will curve) the flat line is also very sensitive to the paint you use..the smaller bore paints IE marbilizer, Anarchy etc (yes the expensive stuff) works best. If you play with it enough, and try to learn it the flat line can be absolutely great...I have shot people out when their paint was falling 5-10 feet in front of me, but I have to admit I usually just use my ION, with the freak kit, and a couple of mods I've made, it rocks..........there are alot of variables involved...all the way down to the style of play that you prefer.

I voted the 14" because everone that I know that has a flatline hates it, and they are selling them/or have sold them right now. They are either going to get the Apex (which I reccomend) or a 14" progressive.

300-400psi -> 14" good size.
800+ psi -> 10.5" to 12" fine
180-250psi -> 16"

Good bore fit = good efficiency and consistancy.

I also use the quality of paint to help pick tips.
@ 350psi
Bad paint -> 12" - bore fitted.
Good paint ->14" - bore fitted.
Great Paint ->16" - bore fitted.

Flat line barrels generally trash accuracy - but can lay down an impressive barrage and make up for it in volume.

So I see where Zen is coming from.

Any decent barrel kit will work well, but if my money were on the line, Ill look hard at the Ultralight, Sly, & Kaner kits for any < 400psi marker.
For any 800+ psi marker, ??
Lucky 15 kit from warped sports is a very accurate barrel kit.
They are one piece barrels in bore sizes .685,.689 & .693.
I myself have an Angel threaded kit & it improves the overall accuracy by a large margin. They are around the $125 to $160 range though.
