I have used a flatline once. it is great in woods because of the flat flight path but once you get to the "extra distance" the balls are going so slow that they dont break

I've got a buddy who uses a flatline and if I can remember correctly they are a bit loud. Of course I think we had this conversation and I could be wrong.

I used a flatline when they first came out and here are my comments:

1) Does shoot flat much further than any other barrel. Other barrels will shoot just as far, but you have to shoot at an angle to achieve the same distance.

2) The balls seem to float at long distance.

3) A hard shelled paint is needed to keep from breaking in the barrel.

4) Due to the slow velocity at longer distances and the thicker shell, the majority of hits will bounce off your targets at those longer distances.

5) If the barrel is not put on perfectly verticle, or if the gun isn't held verticle when shot it will curve left or right. This can be used to your advantage to shoot around a tree or obstruction, but can be annoying if you aren't expecting it.

6) Some barrels just do not match up right with the gun and end up breaking paint constantly due to the adapter catching the paint as it goes by.

The flatline is one of the only barrels made by Tippman, but just about every barrel manufacturer makes a Tippman threaded barrel. Just remember that the threads on the Tippman 98, Tippman Prolight, and Tippman A5 are different.
