Hard memories brought back...

Well, as the upstart "TS turned Himmicane" Humberto rolls into the TX/LA coast, the reaction is as would be expected. The entire state of Louisiana is under a "State of Emergency" order. Here in Ponchatoula, the skies are overcast and it's wet from some overnight showers. The forecast is for a 70% chance of showers later today and 60% for tomorrow. There is a 100% chance of overreaction to nothing more than some heavy rainfall with a possibility of moderate street flooding. Beaumont had the same and the water is receding already. Kids playing in the filthy water, as we did when we were that age.

I guess the danger in something like this is everyone, including myself, that says "Aw, shoot. This ain't no REAL storm. Now Katrina... THAT was a storm!" Thanks God for the Weather Channel and modern meteorology. At least with Humberto we know that its just some heavy rain and a little breeze. I, for one, welcome the change. I bless the weather channels, but understand that this is their feeding frenzy. Lack of a major storm hitting the Continental US has them ready to jump on any storm that can give them numbers.

I'll let you know if it gets windy...

Pretty funny.. It's not even on the news or at least the stations I've been watching today. I'm glad it's just a rain storm.

It actualy formed as a depression in the Gulf off of Texas. In the space of hours, it turned storm, then hurricane and hit the coast off Beaumont. News said that it was the fastes forming hurricane in recorded history. (Even if it was a poofter...)
