Junkie In The Trunk - Issue 2 - 4Q 2008 PART 4 - BT MERC VEST
Summing it Up
I “Battle Tested” my creation at the MPP Overlord game at Bear Claw Paintball in Fayetteville, TN, along with team mates “Ol Dawg” Lovill and “Snake” Roeser. They both wore similarly outfitted Merc vests. We all originally liked what we had, but were all a bit hesitant because we had been wearing our trusted old setups for over four years and were not eager to give them up.
Mine had served me well and the manufacturer and I had developed a great relationship over the years. However, I have a back that has suffered years of abuse and I needed to find something with more support. The BT fit the bill.
You’ll notice that there is paint and splatter on the vest that I left there on purpose for you to get the whole experience. I have to say that I am sold on the Merc. Not only did it give me the support I needed to play all day on a less than forgiving terrain, it was comfortable and easy to access.
The hydration pack worked well and the pod holders and pouches all worked like a charm. I took too many hits to relate here and jumped, laid on, crawled and outright fell down, more than once and not necessarily in that order. The stitching and the fabric valiantly stood up to the purposely rough conditioning. My esteemed Hired Gunz teammates, Ol’ Dawg and Snake concurred with the evaluation and are actually looking forward to playing again just so we all can wear the vests. Definitely the coolness factor… (This photo is them just after removing their vests at the end of play. What great smiles!?)
Chicks dig tactical vests and this vest will make you a Chick magnet. Well, maybe not a magnet. But Chicks will want to know where you got it so they can tell their boyfriends. Yes, BT gives you the “in” for small talk. After that it’s up to you.
On the Junkie in the Trunk “Smiley” scale, this one gets FIVE

out of five! Top notch design and workmanship, with the ability of a player to start with a basic configuration and add on as the wallet allows, make this an all-around great deal.
For those of you who would like to sing along, BT Paintball has a Vest Builder program on their website. You can assemble your own super vest and print out the resulting masterpiece. Bring that to your local BT Dealer and snag your very own Merc vest.
Thanks again, for reading. I hope you found it useful.
Special Thanks to Gunfighter Paintball Pro Shop, Kee Action Sports & BT Paintball for the vest used in testing.
