What makes a good paintball player - Introduction

I have seen alot of topics lately on dealing with cheaters and cheating in paintball scattered about the internet and magazines. It seems as if the topic is gaining attention, with every reader adding their two cents worth. So now we have a pretty good depiction of just what a cheater is, what methods they use to cheat, how players and refs can catch them, and what to do about them. All of this information is good and well intentioned, but I do see something lacking. This is: "What makes a good paintball player?"

When examining counterfeit currency, it is of utmost importance to first know and recognize what the genuine article looks like. Applying this to the paintball I will be posting my thoughts here about just what defines a good paintball player. Some of the items I will be posting are on honesty, integrity, teamwork, mentoring, and more. My goal is to encourage more experienced paintball players to take the newer under their wing so-to-speak and thusly make the sport more honorable and fun.

One thing that I would like to point out is that I will not use "Skill" as a way to judge a good paintball player. Improved skill can make you more of a threat to an opponent, but I have seen very skilled players cheat on a consistant basis. So, taking skill out of the equation, I will be concentrating on other factors that make for a good paintball player.

Communication in my book is the number one. Without it, teamwork fails, without it, movement to contact fails, without it the PLAYER fails.

having the knowledge to know what it takes to win and playing their role in aiding the team to accomplish their goal. Field awareness > anything imo
