Scenario Downtime:Time to get your team in order
Fall for parts of this country differ greatly. Some may see leaves change colors, some may start to see snow, and yet others are looking at temps that are almost constant. Weather and time of year does effect the game of paintball. Scenario paintball gaming is no exception, and has it's downtime. Although it may be debateable, certain times of the year lead itself to unfavorable paintball play. Months like December, January, February, come to mind because of temperature, family gatherings, and the christmas crunch. Months like June, July and August can get real hot and keep teams from playing. This doesn't keep producers from putting on games at those times. Find out when your team plays the most and when they are lax and start to build your scenario schedule around that.
Downtime is good for getting to team back in shape. Scenario teams need an administrative side so downtimes give a chance to reestablish your team structure. There also may be some new tactics or drills, ways of communicating, or new members to be brought up to speed to be done. Schedule a team practice once a month durring your downtime so that you can keep your team refreshed and revived. Downtime can also allow for time to update the team website, add new pictures, delete members that have quit, and update schedules, and refine team rules. Scenario teams don't run on autopilot. At first it may seem to be true, esp when all games are being attended and everyone has focused attention, but attention wans for some if not all players, and your team must be ready for the slow times.
