The Skirmish line: What C.A.G. Paintball training did for me.

I remember being at Oklahoma D-Day 5 years ago. It was my second scenario game, and I was stoked. I saw and expected alot of milsim effects, toys and props durring the game. What I was supprised with is being lead like a squad in the army to battle. One of the leaders of the allied forces asked me and many others to make a skirmish line and move forward to the enemy. I couldn't help but think at the time "This guy is nuts. Who does he think he is? We are sitting ducks, out in the open like this. We will never make it." As soon as paintballs started to land around me, I halted. I stopped moving forward. I moved to the flank. If memory serves, that skirmish line pushed the germans back.
My views of such a tactic have changed, esp since I've taken the one day Stryker course from C.A.G. paintball. This course has taught me that sometimes a show of force is better than concealment and cover. It intimidates the opponent and actually makes them loose confidience in themselves and their ground they hold. I also feel that as I play more and more, my game matures, and I leave behind notions that teamwork doesnt work in paintball, and tactics don't effect much. Teamwork at its best is a great thing, and having some skills in the tactics dept help too.
If you feel your ready for some paintball training from prior scenario paintball/milsim instructors, check out http://www.cagpaintball.com/. The will be running a one day Stryker course on July 19th at Gateway Action Sports in Clarksville Tn. Check them out at http://www.gatewayactionsports.com/.
