to NVG or No NVG that is the question..
NVG or night vision goggles have been known to work there way into scenario paintball.
Wayne allows them till 10pm Ben says no and none. Bambi and one team had a big problem recently at Camp Lejune with NVG. me? Night play brings out the hard core players and the the crazys. NVGs definitely throw the advantage to the side with. and against the side w/o. Marshall Law was the last team I knew who really used them to distinct advantage at Wayne's World 7 years ago. I personally hate things that make people mad - and Tanks and NVGs certainly fall into that category. I also have an appreciation for the guy who spent the $2500 for the NVGs for paintball or the guy who spent $10,000 building a tank from a cargo van - and these players should be allowed to bring their toys. hence the predicament. My hunch says wayne has a good solution. NVGs OK till 10pm and try to balance the numer of sets per side. opinions?

NVG are expensive enough to be prohibitive for the average player. In the interest of balance, I'd prohibit them.

I have mixed feelings about this. I used to own a good set of NVG's and they made the game completely different. They are useful when used properly. BTW, shining a 2,000,000 candle power Q-beam will not destroy good NVG's. Otherwise our military boys would be SOL. Trust me, I have had someone try it and then be rather shocked when I snuck up on them shortly thereafter with NVG's completely intact.
I feel it is the same as the person that throws down $1500 on that new fancy smancy electronic hooha gun. The price is about the same and offers the same level of difference over the other players on the field. Basically I am saying, it should be handled like full auto. If the field allows high rates of fire or full auto then they should allow NVG's. If they are going to limit the high rate of fire then they should also limit NVG's.

Hi
i would say its up to the Field owner or Organizator (spell?). If they allow you to use them do it. If they dont allow them then dont use them. But please be fair if they dont allow them then make sure you dont use them. I think on the last Game they caught someone with and he had to leave the Field. His problem. My opinion. Little_Ho |

fine points --
Quote:
Im leaning towards copying Wayne -- let them on till 10pm - then off. (obviously a little hard to police) -- if we get a any complaints at night about overshooting and NVGs being involved, we pull'em off. -- so just like the rules related to full auto (and insane modes), we put the responsibility back on the operator. quote from the ROF rules: "Overshooting: GUYS : I know many of you love dumping paint and for our upcoming games in April and November we will be imposing a 6 rounds per second restriction. Once I receive the first complaint today of someone being overshot, we will impose the 6 ball per second rule here – but until then fire away. So this is really up to all of you." comments..? and since we restrict the ROF off the bat at Super 61 - no NVG at Super 61. (following deeps logic)

I'm for the use of NVG. I've used NVG and been "abused" :icon16: by NVG and I feel they are a valid part of night play. I like the limited time frame for use that Wayne uses. That way both camps can enjoy the night play. I do not feel that NVG has all that much effect on the overall game but it does have a significant effect on the personal level and if someone wants to invest the money in them then you should let them use them during a specific period of time. Remember there are many weaknesses to NVGs they have a limited field of view, blind spots. Gen 1 and some Gen 2 need infered emitters to work well so they basically have a beacon on when emitting to other NVGs. Most players can not afford Gen 2+ or higher. The only case I know of someone having Gen 3+ US NVG ended up getting caught by the military and getting in serious trouble.

Actually you do know a couple of other guys that used Gen 3. Clank and myself. I have since sold off my NVG's. They paid for my vacation a couple of years ago.

like you said nvg's have pro's and con's sure youcan see a little better at night but also you have blind spots and your depth perception is off also you also move kind of slow my opinion on using them is i think they should be allowed for a limited time this is a war and an advantage is a advantage and if you dont like that then get a second job and buy yourself a pair
