Image theft

This photographer needs to hire a good copyright attorney who will know how to approach these thieves.Make nice at first, try to make a deal, and, if no luck-then hit them with enough paperwork to wipe out a forest of redwoods!

Stealing is stealing. He used his hard earned money to purchase his gear. He paid his way to the events where he took the source photos. He took the time to take, process and post those same photos. His business is paintball photography.

Where is the difference from, lets say, a convenience store next to a big building. Someone from the building comes into the store and walks out with something and does not pay for it. Unchecked, they continue to do it. Does the business owner fail to do anything because he is worried that the big company will refuse to do any more business in his store if he tries to put a stop to the thievery?

A classic case of the big bully trying to slam the little guy. I'd bet my boots that if some field started publishing that they were the "Official" XSPL practice field and a store said that they were the "official" store of the XSPL or lets REALLY go crazy... If HE started printing on his lit and cards and web site that HE was the "OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE XSPL", just how fast would his ass be hauled into court, or at very least get a cease and desist letter from a cadre of attorneys?

But WAIT! Maybe that's the solution? He should ask the XSPL to make him the OFFICIAL photographer of the XSPL!

A theif is a thief. He deserves to be compensated for his work.

My two...

Damn good idea. Approach them with that request and see how they act from there. Not sure on the cost of a media pass, but maybe get him in free to xpsl and nppl from now on?

I agree with warpedx, get in with xpsl and nppl first and formost. Pics are great, use that talent as the key to get in the door. Lawsuits only benefit the lawyers............Sharks leave lawyers alone while swimming in the ocean due to professional courtesy....
