Kapp?

Anybody know if Kick A** Paintball Products closed its doors? Their site is gone: http://kickasspaintball.com/ and I heard rumor they are too?

Guess, I'll keep my KAPP Drops...

All the companies that used to make killer 'cocker stuff and never evolved enough are closing down. RIP KAPP (they had a hott model!) and RIP Freeflow.

The best compliment in scenario play is when a ref gives you props for a kill.

Haven't heard much from System X either, after Avalanche dropped them as sponsors. Their site is still up, but they were'nt at NPPL San Diego. Not sure what their plan is at the moment, since the Nme died out more than took off.

I shot one a while back, maybe a year. It felt a bit more solid than a timmy, but I absolutely hated the external lpr hose. I'm not a timmy kind of guy though, so wasn't what i was looking for in a gun.

Hmmm. Seems like several companies have gone under in the past year or so. Are sales really that bad? I know Cobra paintball is closing. Tom Kaye "retired" and his explanation implied it was at least partially money-related (yeah, I know AGD is still around but TK leaving is not insignificant). It just seems counter-intuitive, what with paint prices dropping and what seems like a growing player base. Yeah, I know cockers are becoming less of a mainstay but I know Freeflow was making parts for other guns i.e. the shocker, matrix, etc.

Never really had my ear to the ground on these things. Anyone else know?

I belive it has more to do with the Walmartization of the industry. With the growth of the sport larger companies like K2 have stepped in and bought out several companies allowing them to make products faster and cheaper. The drawback to this is that the little guy has a tough time matching the price and still make enough money to keep it profitable.
The only way we can combat this is by speaking with our wallets. Don't buy things over the internet, but rather spend that extra $10 to support your local store. Remember, they have overhead costs that many of the internet stores don't. One big cost is rent and insurance for a store and field. Secondly, if you like a product such as a phantom buy it. Mike Cassidy is one of the last of the mohicans building and selling things himself. I used to own a phantom, and while it wasn't my cup of tea it was a great gun.
