My other addiction

Those who know me are well aware of my aquarium addiction. Unfortunately, when I left Charleston I had to get rid of everything. For the past year I have been keeping a small 24 gallon reef tank. I ran across a good deal locally a few weeks ago and now I'm setting up a 70g tank that will be home to an eel and a lionfish. Here is a link to the thread I started showing my progress so far.

Looks really nice. I always wanted to do salt, but my love for Java Fern and money kept me away from it. LOL!

It definately isn't cheap, but it can be done on a budget if you shop around and take your time. There are always people that are getting out of the hobby and selling stuff cheap. If I had the room I would have bought a tank from a guy here last week who was selling a tank he had built for $2000. He was asking $100 because he was so frustrated with the fact that everything he put in it died. BTW, the 2k was only for the tank, he had tons of other stuff he sold for a song as well.

My friend gave me a 70gal SW tank with everything, except the live stuff. The divorce caused catastrophic disaster as usual.

I set it up at home and my cousin was a tropical fish farmer. I went to him and he gave me about 2K fish, angles, kissers, etc.
We loved it, watched it more than tv.
My son Nathan was about 4yo, he heard me talking about cleaning the tank.
So he got off the washing machine, the spray n' wash spot remover. Proceeded to spray the whole bottle into the tank. Well you know what that did...It KIA'D everything except the Jack Dempsey's. They lived for a time but finally succumbed to the toxic cleaning fluid.
Cichlids are very hearty breed of tropical fish...but they can't breath spray n' wash.
