Problematic Cocker

I've got a cocker thats being a big pain in the rear. Whats that, not suprised?

2001 WGP Cocker, vertical feed
WGP Hinge frame
Roller Sear
Rat valve
Shocktech frontblock
Palmers Stabilizer (vert)
ans quickpull 2k bolt

basically the works. When I had all this done to the gun, it worked like a dream. I mean I really couldnt ask for a better gun. Then I joined the military and the gun has set for about 2 yrs. Trying to get back in the sport now, but my gun is being a real pain. I'd like to get it working again, but it seems that no one in the area (south carolina, columbia area) knows jack about cockers.

I was told back when I got the gun done up that it 'works backwards' now becuase of the hinge and front block, or something like that. Does anyone know the accuracy of that statement?

The gun used to run at around 190-220psi I remember. Now its at like 400psi, which is know is messed up. When I pull the trigger, air just comes out of the 3 way. I've tried adjusting the lugs and all that. I've spent hours trying to get the settings right but to no avail. I even took it to a well known and reputable paintball shop in Charleston, and now the gun works at least sometime, but not to the level that it used to work. Its gotten my so frustrated that I am considering just buying an ION and retiring the old hoss.

Anyone with any advice on how to make this gun great again, i'd really appreciate it!

Well it is much easier to work on a gun in person, there sounds like there may be a few things wrong, and if you took it to paintball charleston then I was more then likely the on to work on it. But as I have fixed quite a few of these I can't tell one from the other, by the sounds of your set up I could make this gun fly but the problem is I am all the way down in charleston.
If you could set up a day, where you could meet me in the store I would be able to help you much more, and I could work on it while you were there, I don't do this much, as I usually have other guns that require my attention, but I would like to save you the trouble of an Ion, and show you how a cocker can work. So if possible let me know if you have a chance of getting down here if not I'll do what I can on here.

Cool
Im in Sumter so its about 150 miles to the shop from here. I'd love to have the gun working back at its normal level again. I know full well how bad ass this gun can be, I just think it needs the correct hand on it. If I can get my self down that way, ill let you know. You can email me at cbass2@sc.rr.com so that we can discuss it a little further.

thanks.

Yea we will see when you get down here, I was alrdy planning on being there Sat. to play so I should be out there. Try to get out there early if you can, I mean if you have a chance and can manage it try to get out there around, 10ish if that is possible, and I can probably get it fixed and you can play, so if you want you can bring all your gear down and you can come and join us for a day...

First off....DO NOT GET RID OF IT!!! With that said, the statement about the hinge trigger making the gun operate backwards is basically correct. A hinge trigger pushes the timing rod forward instead of pulling it back like a slide trigger does. Therefore your hoses on your 3-way need to be place in reverse order as they would with a slide trigger. When you do that you time it exactly like you would with a slide trigger. The only difference is the placement of the hoses. The same thing happens if you change from a 2 o-ring 3-way to a 3 o-ring 3-way. Therefore, if you change from a slide trigger to a hinge trigger and change from a 2 o-ring 3-way to a 3 o-ring 3-way at the same time then your hoses remain in the same order as they were to start.
If I haven't thoroughly confused you yet then stop by the box Saturday. I am back in town from NZ and will be working at PBC Saturday. As long as it isn't too busy I would be more than happy to go over the basic operation and timing of the gun with you. The best times are usually around 11:30 - 1:00 or so. Cozie also has cockers down and can get it up and running like a champ for you.
Even if I can't get time to show you everything I know about cockers Cozie or I should be able to get it up and singing for you in 10 minutes or so, provided it is just a timing/pressure issue. From your description it sounds like it just needs a good old fashioned timing and tweaking.

Rock n Roll guys,

If yall can make my cocker own again, ill kiss you! well, not really, but seriously, i'd be really, really happy!
Like I said though, I've had this gun worked on @ PBC before, and it works now, sporadically, lol, but still not up to its old self. Hopefully you two can make it sing again.
Whats even better, my wife decided to give paintball a whirl, so I went and bought her a new cocker. I know, I know, its not the same, but heck, it was only 150 bucks and its not a spyder or electro!
