ok, from personal expierence (i play CoD2 competivitly and CoD:UO with the best CoDUO team in the world, and in CoD2 we're ranked in the top 5 for CAL CTF), no. and yes.

First the yes:
playing these games in a COMPETITIVE format has an almost identical pattern to paintball. Get to your primary spots, bump up, grab flag, hang it. Also, communication is extremely important in any video game, like paintball, so when on the field im preety used to calling out spots and relaying infornmation without having to think, hell, yesterday in a scrim i was playing in a defensive spot, but could see the other teams spawn point, so i was constantly: 2 down, 3 spawn, all up, 2 moving middle courtyart, 1 west, 1 east, west down, sombody shoot midle court, down, blah blah blah, just on and on. So in communication it can help a good bit just because you're used to rambling on and on.

From my expierence it can also help you learn how to adapt. Because in ctf you respawn every 15 sec, people are always dieing, key spots changing teams, so you're constantly having to bump up and fill in for other people. In paintball it's the same, say a dorito is a key spot on the field, you get that and you can controll the entier side, that guy goes down, what do you do? bump up into his spot and try to make it work. In video games there are also major pushes on the maps, like when they're all up, have 2 key spots and are going for a flag grab, you have to be able to set up a quick defense and counter is quickly because if you dont then they'll get you spawning your secondary which will give you a HORRIFIC chance of getting the flag back, without going the desiered direction, becaues the way you choose could mess with their spawn and get them spawning primary spawn. Like in the game of paintball, things are always chaning, so playing COMPETITIVE games can give you a better mindset about rapid change.

Now for the No's:
Video games CANNOT help your reaction time, form, strats, or ANYTHING that i did not mention above, other than being able to identify the opposition at a rapid pace. DO NOT say that playing video games helps your reaction time because i know for a FACT it does not, in the sport of paintball. For one, when you talk about reaction time in pb, you have to talk about snap shooting, if i could snap shoot as well as i can in CoD id be a ****ing pro, no doubt. Also, you train yourself to be able to keep up with the games in your minds eye, you have to do the same for paintball, but you CANNOT cross the two. Even with different games i have to get used to the gameplay. Like CoDUO is MUCH slower than CoD2 so after playing CoD2 and then playin UO for a bit im MUCH better at UO cause im playing at a different speed in my mind.

Snapshooting/reaction time cont: when you snap shoot you have to also factor in that you've got a gun, hopper, and tank, that=weight. In a video game, all you do is press a button, so becase of this your speed will be MUCH slower, SO PLEASE DO NOT COMPARE THE TWO. .

Hand eye coordination:
please, think for a sec. What do your hands do with the gun? shoot and hold it. everything else is done by moving your arms to aim the gun. And this brings me back to that 'playing speed', when you're in a tight sisuation in a video game you DONT think about what you're going to do next, you just react and pray that youve got the better skill gunwise. Some people have set "moves" that they do in video games, but usually it's to bring back the crosshair, or fool the opponent that's in your FACE. So it takes expierence to understand the game speed, like in paintball you have to learn the game speed and get your mind in the zone so you dont have to think about that type of stuff and you can work on moving up, controlling your lanes ect...

that's all for now.
