Hmm, new price makes it tempting to jump over just for the built in bluray player.
Have to see some more exclusive games come out before I buy though.

HD-DVD and the 360 are far superior to Blu-Ray and the PS3.

You could buy a Blu-Ray DVD player cheaper than you could the console if you shop around.

Think long and hard about the above.

I would purchase the console based on the gaming capabilities... preference to the games available for that console..etc...etc... Both technologies (hd-dvd or blueray) can flop one way or another down the road considering they're both newer technologies.

Curious though... with the ps3, do you have to purchase additional hardware to play movies? Reading on the xbox 360, it states you need to purchase an add-on...

I believe the PS3 plays movies out of the box. The HD-DVD drive for the Xbox is $200, and only comes as an external.
On second thoughts, I may wait for Beta vs VHS round two to be over.

lets see my PS3 not only is hd player with its blueray and a great systems for games but now is a streaming media player, dvr, file server, ftp server, firewall, dhcp server, all this and more just from installing a nice OS called linux. oh and just buy the hd dvd player thats for the xbox 360 like i did and plug it into the ps3 and with the power of linux you now have a hd dvd and blueray player in one. lets see the xbox 360 do all this

If memory serves, they now have 360's with HD-DVD drives built in, and it's also an external because not everyone cares about that crap.

Xbox 360 has Live, the best online system ever developed. With that comes the Marketplace, Demo Downloads, Movie Downloads, etc. I'll gladly pay $50/yr for that over Sony's unreliable "free" online. It has the best games, Halo, COD, BioShock, Viva Pinata (I don't play, but it's a huge favorite) Two Worlds, Guitar Hero (again I don't play, but it's huge. If I wanted to play guitar I would buy one)etc etc. The 360 library will surpass the PS3 library in games, and good games. People argue that Sony has more games, well no dur, they've been in the game market since what, 95? Earlier? I don't know. But MS has the better games

The PS3 is hard to develop for, as soon as Sony announced it, developers were getting angry at the crappy system builds Sony puts out. The PS2 was even hard for them to develop for, Microsoft aims for ease of development, and M$ knows more about computers and developing than any employee working at Sony could dream about. I could go on and on about the technical difficulties of Sonys garbage consoles and products, their car audio line sucks too. Everything Sony does sucks.

Oh and..

360 Streams w/ Media Center or Media Center Extended if you don't have Media Center 360's have been modded to accept Linux.

You see, nVidia sucks and ATi doesn't 1080P is retardedly overrated and you won't tell a diff. between 1080i or 1080p. Sony said, well the original Xbox used nVidia, and it kicked our asses, so let's use nVidia this time. Fail.

ATi produces a better card by far, the cross-fire system on PCs pwns all. It's like AMD vs. Intel, AMD wins all the time.

Besides, sales records prove it, 360, Wii, PS3. I think Wii surpassed 360 for a while, and I still can't find a Wii on ebay for a reasonable price! Ninteno and MS>Sony

ah yes but cant steam any file that microsoft does not approve of and drm yeah got to love that crap

360's have been modded to accept Linux.

and here is where ps3 wins again dont need to mod crap. just install and done. also dont like the same drive that comes with the ps3 just head down to any computer store and get the drive size you like (mine currently has 1.5 terabytes) games oh the games let me pull out my ps1 collection and my ps2 collection. sure they old games but still fun to play, and if you say you cant find any good native ps3 games you need to go out and learn japanese all the greatest games are over there. and Halo 3 blows any game that takes me all of 4 hours to beat is a waste of time. ohhh but the online rules, again i will take a good old 64 vs 64 battlefield 2 over halo anyday
