The mini feels pretty good to shoot, if you're looking to save a bit of cash, this would be a good way to go while still getting a new marker.
Eteks' are newer than the 05's, but there is a lot of aftermarket support for the older egos still.
Definitely try them all out if you can, it's always the best way to choose.

I feel that spoolvalve guns can operate great, just too many friction based seals to fail & it's really just a ram driven "inline" design... nothing bad, just not too much different (like a flat six cylider engine vs. a v6 engine)

the Mini's tend to be cool & they are small - but the wieght is the same, I've had the chance to weigh them against a Etek with everything on them (including the battery & barrel) except for the hopper & tank... they wiegh the same, try it yourself if you ever get a chance with a good postage scale at a paintball store, you'll see

the mini carries a unique design in layout through the grip, but reminds me of a automag valve system only turned the piston action side-ways

The Etek carries the simple design of a lower-ram-poppit-valve which is "similar" to an Angel, Timmy, etc... Fewer moving parts means less problems (yes, the other above mentioned have fewer moving parts too) & fewer o-ring based friction seals means fewer failures to excesive rates of fire
the Etek also can use ALOT of 06 Ego parts (eye covers, feedneck, trigger, LPR/cap, upper bolt, etc...)

I guess at this point in the process - It's budget & dependability ... the Mini may be more in your budget but the Etek it the same exact format as it's older cousin & has a proven design that is quite a few generations olds (by genreation, I mean model/years) now

that's my 2 cent

Ah yes, how could I forget. Internal hoses are a pet peeve of mine. Sure it can work just fine, and the point can be argued that it is an easy way to shave some weight.
But it just seems like such a cheap shortcut around a nice milled passage. That's the main reason I haven't owned an ego/timmy.

I know all about these markers, but I have yet to see, hold or shoot any of them. I have shot an 05 EGO and I wasn't blown away by it. I love my Shocker. The mini seems like a good deal. But I have been watching them since Decemebr and seems like Invert kinda dropped the ball with the first load of them. I want something of good quality that is gonna make me want to keep it for a long time.

pbreview is soso. HAlf the reviews are by people who have just test fired and not actually owned the gun for a period of time. Especially the ETEK and mini reviews.

I have narrowed it down between the mini and ETEK. Etek seems to be the better but with extra cash I save on the mini I get to buy extra stuff, ex. barrel kit, new hopper. But I already have all that stuff as well. Tough choice.

Your post said you were interested in a NEW gun...well, forget the 05 EGO then because about the only way to get one of those is used now. You might be able to find an 06 EGO somewhere, but we have had no luck in getting those from our distributors, all sold out and Eclipse is not making any more. The 07 EGO has been released and that is what they are concentrating on. The ETEK is an awesome marker, sort of a Jr. version of the EGO. All the performance, just not as many bells and whistles but those can be added with certain upgrades.
The PM6 is another great gun...all the power you would expect from a Proto and the price on those has been lowered recently. If you are looking to get a PM that can be upgraded or tricked out to meet your personality, check out the new RAIL. Good marker, even as stock, but has plenty of upgrades available and being produced by some of the best in the business. Tadao, Virture, New Designz, and others either have upgrades out already or are about to release some. You can pretty much customize it to suite your needs, style, taste and bank account.
The Invert Mini is really cool too...small, fast and extremely light. Think of it as a grip frame with a barrel attached. As Sittin Duk said...the pulse is just as big as the marker itself. Only problem with the Mini at the moment is ups. Not many available, but then again this marker really doesn't need much. It already screams!
Hope we didn't confuse your choice making too much. Have fun with your new gun!
