I'm not jumping on the smack talk, I was just wondering when the British won the Rugby World Cup. I was in New Zealand when the Lions took on the All Blacks last summer and it was pretty ugly. The Lions held their own and won a couple of the matches against the lower level teams (Crusaders, Warriors, etc.) but were totally outmatched agains the All Blacks. If they won the Cup then it was a pretty good turn around since then and I tip my hat to them. I will always pull for the All Blacks in Rugby.

yeh deepfreeze your right. The Lions had a really poor tour against the Kiwis. At the moment, i have to hand it to the All Blacks. They have an incredible team with power and pace where it matters. We won the world cup last time around, in late 2003/early 04. Yes i suppose its a couple of years ago, but then we were an incredible team. Technically we are still world champions!

Since the world cup we lost alot of players due to injury and retirement. Laurence Dallaligo and Martin Johnson, both key players, retired from england rugby, though dallaligo played a match for the lions before he broke his ankle.

Our kicker Jonny wilkinson played all but one of the world cup matches with a broken shoulder, and he was out for almost a year afterwards becasue of the damage he did as a result of playing on.

Recently weve had a revival and we are climbing back up, and i would say we are still one of the top teams. The world cup is coming up next year so we will see if we can hold it together. Its always sad when players quit after achieving a major goal such as the world cup. It really leaves the team in the lurch!

But i definately agree with you. The Kiwis are probably the strongest team out there at the moment, and they deservfed their wins over the lions. They would be one of my odds on favourites to win the world cup next year.

However, it has to be remembered that its not just the english who make up the lions, but the scottish welsh and irish, and this means the team dont get much time to train as a unit, and that is a key reason to a teams success.

O.K., I am going to go off subject only this time to say this - I truly appreciate the sport of rugby. I played for Ga. one year, and it was tough. Rugby players are a group that stand alone. Also, being Irish (contrary to my upcoming command in March), I applaud Charlie for this comment. Now, can we get back on topic, you bunch of whining, tea drinking, dentally challenged, limey wankers!

and if everything goes ok we might even be able to get some paint to hit people instead of explode out of the barrel in their general direction...
