Free Finale's Website hacked

From Jason Peacock of Nocer Productions:

Now I am getting mad.

First I will tell you what happened last night. The Free Finale web site was not working. I thought this to be very strange. I made some calls and come to find out no one was able to get to the internet site. I let it go and went to bed. I checked the site again early this morning and it still was not working. I got back on the phone and worked my way to the company that is hosting this web site on a conference call with the owner of the site.

The Free Finale Website had been HACKED! All the files on the server were deleted. After working on this issues this morning the hosting company pulled the log files and showed a brute force attack on the FTP connection. Well whom ever did this finally got in and deleted all the files. The hosting company pulled a back up and replaced the files.

Ok, those are the facts and now here is my opinion. Why is it that several professional scenario producers come together to give back to players with a free game and people are trying to stop it. Well after this little prank NOCER will be on the war path to make sure we can do as much for this free event as possible.

I have heard for years from the players why don’t the producers come together why don’t they work together? We Are Working Together.

This event has had a lot of attention good and bad but the true fact is this is a free game for the players by producers working together. NOCER will not let the pranks of a few bad apples stop the fun for the rest of the scenario community. This Free Finale will be one of the best events of the year. NOCER has now dedicated all of our resources to make this a good event.

I will no longer stand by and not speak my mind because of “Scenario Paintball Politics”. NOCER supports the Free Finale and we hope that we can make this come back next year.

Do with this email what ever you like.

Thank you,
Jason Peacock

Because some ppl suck grunt. You put money in front of some people and they grow horns. Personally, I've found most of the ppl in the paintball industry I've dealt with have been extremely rude and greedy.

I tend to stay away from the politics and just focus on the sport.

Gutless hackers

These hackers are just another example of the same type of gutless, spineless puke that is in the same category as all the terrorists in the world who commit their cowardly acts behind closed doors wearing ski masks and other forms of gear that hide their identity. They don't have enough balls to come out in the open to express themselves. They must creep around in the slime and wallow in the muck to try to disrupt things without letting their identity be known. Cowards. Spineless cowards. If you have a beef with someone face them. Don't hide in the dark and stab them in the back.

I support Billy, Ben and everyone else involved in the free game in December.

hacking isn't only an act of "terrorism" its a way to testing your skill. while it might inconvience u, it is also a learning method to figure out how to protect your self better, and it also serves as a wake up call to prove that the net isn't safe

You really believe that? Oh man that is so much dead, free love, Tcp/Ip hippie Berkley dribble from the past. It's cyber vandalism and any one tells you different is lying. If I brute force the front door at your house with a sledge hammer I'm not expanding my knowledge about doors, I'm breaking and entering. You got a complex password for this site? No. Reckon it's ok if I brute force it and post in your name? Can I cut your phone wire? It's just dangling out by the street begging me. You should protect it better you know. How much bandwidth you got and what's your IP. Is it static? You want to to post it and see how many zombie's it'll take to crush your pipe. (no don't post it really) I'm just trying to make a point. Civilization is built on our right to own ourselves and property:real and otherwise. If you think someone vandalizing your house and property makes you a better person then move to some inner city ghetto and seek nirvana. Otherwise, grow up, respect the rights of others, and enjoy your stuff.

And quit spouting script kiddie mumbo jumbo. Real hackers are wire fraud felons, stealing real money, and serve real time in big boy prison.

Bobio: beam me up, I'm slinging drool.

i have learnt some java, vb, php, and macromedia screwing around and hacking, it taught me the code, and how to read parts of it.

I realize that hacking is bad, and is a crime and an invasion of privacy, but all i was trying to express is that it is a way of learning some stuff, and people are payed by microsoft to hack there own product so they can further protect them self. I also realize that hacking is just as bad as tapping someones phone, or breaking and entry, but with tapping someones phone u also gain the knowledge, along with breaking and entering, but its not knowledge that is useful in somecases, and also not knowledge that should be utilized in a negive manner, but if utilized correctly it can help. Thats all my ramblings were about.

Ok. I see the point of this topic is starting to go in several different directions of which everyone has a point and everyone has different opinions so I will be the last person to post in this thread (HINT) with a final note.

No one has the right to damage property that doesn't belong to them no matter what it is and since it happened in the tight nit community of paintball where sportsmanship, honesty and integrity are a must have for the sport to survive, this act made it that much worse, "for about a minute."

As soon as word got out, fellow paintballers took action!

The End!
