WDP receives patent on new goggle system

WDP received a patent for a new goggle system that's just as advanced as their markers are. Among other things, the goggle system contains a humidity sensor which activates a fan. The fan's speed is determined by how humid it is.

It's important to note that many inventions which are patented are never actually produced. So we gave WDP's sale's manager Owen Ronayne a call and his response was carefully thought out not to confirm or deny any forth-coming goggle system.

"I'm not sure if I know what you're talking about," Owen said, but went on to say, "There's nothing in paintball we're not looking at. Do we have plans to make a google? No...do we have designs? Sure."

Just when we figured WDP had no immediate plans for a goggle system, Owen said that you never know, it might just make an apperance in Denver.

Probably not, but you never know....

From our readings of the patent documents (very detailed and technical), the mask has a seperate air inlet and outlet chamber, and a fan which will be positioned, "in front of the wearer's nose or mouth". Sounds like the design team is trying to make a mask you can actually breathe in...

The fan is powered by a "drive system includes a controller arranged to switch the fan repeatedly between an on state and an off state so as to control the amount of air directed across the lens, and to control the timing of the switching so that each time the fan is switched to the on state it remains in that state for at least a predetermined time to allow for airflow across the lens to reach a steady state..."

The "drive system includes a sensing means arranged to sense fogging of the lens, and the controller is arranged to control operation of the fan in response to a signal..."
