Calamari Nav

Hey all,
Just checking in. My name is Anthony Kass and I'm the Navigator for team Calamari. I use my Tippy with a flat and will usually be the guy standing around with a Map or compass in my hand. Team Calamari is made up of a bunch of Navy Guys (or Squids). And we just came together to have fun on the field.

Speaking of having fun, Low country was a blast. Every team there was standup, from our allies to our enemies it was a pleasure sharing the field of battle with you guys. Wish we could make it to the April game, but most of the team will not be able to attend. Next time we are in the area Grendal you will have to come over and we can swap sea stories.

Well, I am biased, but I would recommend air traffic control. When you get out you can shoot for a job with a contractor, DoD, or FAA making good money. Pluss it is a fun job.

The Army does have air traffic controllers. The only problem is the vast majority of their traffic is helicopters which does not allow them to develop their skills to the level of the Air Force or Navy controllers. I spent 9 1/2 years in the Navy with the last 5 being in air traffic control. I am now an air traffic manager for the US Antarctic Program. I have worked with many ex Navy, Marine, Air Force, and Army controllers. Their abilities were more due to their individual skills. I will say that typically the Air Force and Navy controllers were better prepared for "real ATC." BTW, the field isn't for everyone. You have to be able to make quick educated decisions, study constantly, and speak clear and concise.
