Hey Bond Chick,

I get the feeling Junkie has pics of you posted somewhere. If so, where are they?

I refuse to discuss Casino Royale.

As for plausible story lines GIMME A BREAK. IS there such a thing? Isn't that what movies are for, escapism, a break from reality? After all= Truth is stranger than fiction.

Silverback, you are joining the Germans for DDay?! Have you played DDay before? Such high brownie points you have!! Congrats on joining the winning team this year. Excellent decision.

Yeah well...taste is in the eye of the beholder and all that. Yes, I am really German, but two generations removed. German on mein mutter's side, Irish on me Da's side. As a toddler, I spoke German before learning English. I barely remember any of it but I do have a taste for foin' German and Irish stouts.

ACE, Son, I sure as hell hope you pay better attention on the field than you have on this thread, or you'll wind up in TECHNACOLOR! (That's covered head-to-toe in multiple hues of paint for you people from Rio Linda...)

I guess it is hard to talk about something you haven't seen, or did you see it and thought it was that bad? Remember, this was the first Bond book, so they have gone back to the beginning. At least they didn't try and make it a comedy, like they did with the first movie starring Peter Sellers.

And by plausible, I mean not completely shattering the laws of Physics in a non-animated feature. i.e "Jaws" and girlfriend in "Moonraker" escaping the space station, or how about Jaws surviving the fall into the big top tent at the beginning of 'Moonraker". And I guess I know too much about Nuclear Plants and Subs to endure the obscene scenes in the Russian sub in, "The World is not Enough".

I am shocked and dismayed by your lack of confidence in your recruiting abilities fraeulien BOND CHICK!!!

Shrub, thank you for helping Ace out.

Ace, Str8tshooter said you two have 'like minds'. I'm just gonna leave that one alone, myself. I don't know if we'll be attending the Leyte event, but I'm sure going to try. I'm a cheerleading coach and my squad (5 & 6 year old girls) will be heavy into competition practice by then.

Silverback, you berate Ace007 for not being very observant. Might I (gently) chide you for the same thing? When it comes to the whole book-to-movie transfer, I am a firm believer in leaving the characters as the author intended. To change a character is unforgivable. To change the sacred James Bond is blasphemous.

Herr Silverback, it's not that I doubt my recruiting abilities. It's more of a "you can lead them to water...." scenario. I can only hope that you'll drink. Answer something for me? Why do you doubt my confidence level when you have described yourself "Big, Gray and Ugly"?

(new favorite!)

I was paying attention. I think what you're hinting at is that the pics or a link to them was already posted in this thread. I looked over the thread and if that's true, I didn't see that post.

Despite that, I figured out that the pictures existed anyway. I guess having the sense to do that escaped you.

And I'm too good to be your son and prob. too old.

Anyway, I guess you were having a bad day & just felt like criticizing. Hope it made you feel better.

Berate is such a strong word... but after re-reading the post I must admit it had much more sting to it than I had intended. But, I am confused about your book-to-movie transfer issue. Is it because I slammed the original "Casino Royal" movie that was turned into a comedy with Peter Sellers, or my belief that the latest Bond is believable, all-be-it(sp?) not as flip as previous Bonds. I admit, it has been YEARS, since I read Casino Royal, (the only bond book I have read, unfortunately), but if memory serves, didn't Fleming described Bond as quiet, and introverted? (I very well may be wrong, it has been a while.) I just liked the fact that this latest Bond, showed that killing the guy in the bathroom was both difficult and affected him, and not everything came naturally to him, he actually made mistakes and was more HUMAN, than a perfect spy machine.

Well, BIG - 6'2" and 265 lbs., is above average; GRAY - look at my picture in my profile, I have more gray in the stash and beard, than any other color:
UGLY - Probably just my back-handed way of getting compliments from beautiful women... it's always worked with my wife.
