Hello...
Well, I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Samuel Hartley (Sam). I am the founder of the LPPC (Limited Paint Players Club), and the owner of Shartley Customs. I am the husband of 1, and the father of 4. My kids (at the time of this post) range from 4 years old to 22.
I guess you could call me “old school”, but with an open mind. Although my style of play is far from spray-n-pray, I don’t look down on those who do…. or need to. And although I am not a tournament player, I don’t begrudge those who are. As long as their attitudes are “right”, it’s all good.
For me the sport is about more than just shooting at people. I enjoy the fellowship and conversations at games and events, and have often sat out a game or two just to chat about the industry or paintball in general. And I would not think twice about giving my paint to a kid who is on his first day of playing but does not have money to buy any more paint. Heck, I have played my share of games and there will be another day.
I believe it is the duty of every seasoned player to help foster good sportsmanship and the true spirit of paintball among new players. I believe every seasoned player should watch for safety issues and correct them when seen. And I believe it is the duty of every seasoned player to help those coming up in the sport whenever they can, be it with their equipment, tactics, or whatever.
I am far from being a “paintball God”, the best on the field, best airsmith, or even the most knowledgeable person in the game, but I do what I can to help further the sport and promote a positive image. It is not uncommon to see me directing new players on the field or surrounded by them. This is not because I “take over” but that they seem to be drawn to me…… this may be a blessing or a curse.
I don’t know what else to say….. Um…. Hello.
