Welcome….
What marker you get depends on a lot of factors, such as your style (semi/pump), type of game (you stated woodsball so that is answered), and BUDGET.
As stated, a great marker for woodsball, for both beginners and seasoned players, is the Tippmann 98 Custom, or A-5. They will last you a lifetime, are easy to maintain, and have plenty of accessories for them. If you go with the 98 Custom though, you will want to get a motorized hopper as well (since they only come with a shake-n-bake hopper). I would recommend a Revy or Empire’s equivalent (Reloader). They are the best bang for your buck and for most players it is all they really need.
Pumps are also a great deal of fun, but they are not for everyone. So I would suggest getting your hands on one and playing a few games with it first. You should know pretty quick if you like it or not. And then you have a wide range of choices for pump play. Again, your budget will help determine what is best for you.
If you are looking for a more “exotic” marker (either pump OR semi) and have some money to spend, I suggest looking at Palmers Customs markers. My primary marker is a PPS Stroker (converted Piranha short barrel into a semiauto marker) which I use in pistol mode. Pictures of it can be seen in the Paranha Junkie here on the forums. But PPS has a lot of great markers. And when I say “exotic” I don’t mean “fancy”, I mean not run of the mill that you see on the field. They are very “old school” and have some heft to them… similar to real firearms, which I like. Personally I like to feel my marker in my hands, not like I am playing with a child’s toy…. But that is just me.
Well, off I go, it seems I am either always in the middle of working or getting ready to head out the door…….
