poppet

i think i have a defective poppet. i can air the mini up and i get a huge leak down the barrel. i can reset the poppet via velocity screw and the leak will lessen yet is still present. everytime i put a tank to this marker, its back to square one. i have checked all the orings and i have been resetting the poppet for about 6 months. now, whats up with it?

mine does kinda the same thing. but only when i adjust the velocity i think sometimes it just gets stuck and a little bit of air will leak down the barrel, once i adjust it then bring it back it is fine for me

All the new Mini's come with a additional sheet in the box that specifically addresses the poppet leaking down the barrel. There are two possibles. Crank down on the velocity adjuster and attempt to reseat the poppet. Don't over tighten it, but tighten it enough to "feel" the plastic compress. Yeah, it sounds stupid, but once you do it it will make sense. OR, replace the poppet. If your local Pro Shop or field doesn't have any, call Paintball Solutions at 1.800.220.3222 and find out how to get a replacement. And there's a third for the paintball marker illiterate. Send it back. Again call Paintball Solutions.

Caution - If you do it yourself, be sure to have a chrono handy or chrono at the field before you shoot it at anyone. Reseating the poppet will cause your velocity setting to change, so putting it back to exactly the same place after seating is not a reliable way to judge your velocity. Almost every one that I've reseated at the shop comes out shooting quite a bit hotter than before. Be safe and chrono!
