Okay... Let me get this straight...

You worked on your Spyder for three years, trying to sup it up.

Then gave up and bought an A5... how long have you been working on this trying to "SUP" it up?

I ask only due to a co-worker of mine(see I used the W-word in reference to you, Adam)and he has rebuilt the loader several times, upgraded it with X7 parts and still can't get it to work reliably, he winds up using either one of modifyd's or my extra guns in order to play.

If you know any special secrets to make A5's work reliably, add em to the appropriate thread, and I'll send Adam after 'em.

Markers are like autos, you can get a reliable geo or a crappy mercedes, just stick with it if you are comfortable and all will work out. How many out there have been shot by a spyder? Ego? See, I have been blasted by all kinds and when you are on the receiving end, what it comes from is of no concequence.
I personaly do not and will not own one. Every player who has come to my "ho"made field with one has had me work on them , usualy something small, so I stay away if I can. Just do not put an arm and a leg into as crooked bd says, it will bite back and take your wallet with it when it leaves.

lol. im just talkin smack. ive never owned or even shot a spyder so i wouldnt know. i play with a blowgun and a slingshot.

now i got a real killer idea guys. lets all go over to the tippmann forum and tell all those guys that their beloved markers are just real pieces of crap and not fit for human use. i mean we will just burst right in and be rude as hell. start a whole bunch of crap and turn a tech thread into a poo slinging match from hell. itll be great!

i will oblige because you do seem to be in need of some slight "straightening."

i said that 3 years ago i attempted to build a spyder. not that i worked on for 3 years.

hell it only took me 1 year + a few months to make a stock ranger capable of running 4 diamond trails... i'm not totally helpless.

anyway- in its stock form my spyder was totally inconsistent and unreliable. payday by payday i bought all the CRAP that was supposed to be the top end mods for the spyder. in the end i had a $600 totally inconsistent and unreliable piece of crap.

havok's post made me realize where i was. i generally just click 'new posts' and reply to the ones that i have input for. i didn't intentionally come in and bust on spyders in the spyder forum. my apologies.

PM me about the a5...

I played this weekend with a group of players, used a new stock x-7 with e-grip, third time to use this gun, I did swap out the barrel with one I used one my old pro-am, I was very disappointed in the accuracy of the gun, at the end of the day while putting away my gear, I decided to breay out my electra and see how it did with the same paintballs I was using. Man, I wish I had used it instead, I wouldn't have as many welts.
Maybe I'm lucky when it comes to spyders, but they have pulled thru for me. For rental markers and entry level guns.

i'd also like to add- i do have a theory- a spyder run on HPA rather than CO2 would be far more reliable... i've often considered buying a VS3 just to see if spyder has come out of the slump that i experienced.

you'd never know a VS3 was a Spyder

FYI: VS3 with Pulse loader, Septre barrel kit (or St!ffi)and HPA shoots with the best of them. Period

yes there was one factory oring change, but no problems since
and you are correct, do not use with CO2 or it will cause ROF and seal problems

as many can tell you and as my name implies I love spyders(for the most part) I also have many on my team that hates them(pretty much all of them LOL) It is a matter of opinion and a matter of what you are used to.In general most people start with a tippman or a spyder, low end, easy mechanics, decent performance.I will agree that the early models are the best(I still have a spyder compact and standard) but they are still a great starter marker for those of use that can't afford the high end. As far as speed I have a spyder pilot that had a few mods don to it that would rip. All of these statements are my OPINION and nothing more
