It is a Gen E matrix as stated (and disputed) above. PARTS of this gun may be for a DM3 but the marker itself is not. The body is milled differently, the breech is different and there is no room for eyes (unless a Matrix Ctr. eye kit was installed).
The software updates are available though a little harder to find and most if not all are pre-ramping (2003-2004). There are no chips available, you have to replace the entire board to upgrade.
A complete and decent conditioned DM3 can be found for $250 or less, just to give an idea.

im sorry to say you wrong but, it is a dm3 the reason there is no eye is because the last owner was stupid and ripped the eyes out. the gen-e matrix had a swich not a button for on/off this has a button. the reason the breech is diffrent is the breech it came with looked like crap. just letting you know.

yeah, because that dust red frame is definitely the original frame for that black Gen E body.......

also, i'm pretty sure (someone correct me if i'm wrong) the matrix bodies, while produced by Gen E had the lower tube milled as it is in the picture above. When DYE started making them, they milled more off the body, lengthening the area milled out of the lower tube. I had a true DM3 and it had the long milling while others who had Gen E trixes had the short milling.

personally i don't care, i was just helping clarify. these guns are fast as hell and really nice working guns if you take care of them right.
