NXL Boards Available
Paintball Trader Inc/Vaporworks is pleased to announce a new addition to their line of Chaos boards. Due to the recent rule changes in the NXL regarding cheater boards and enhanced modes, Vaporworks will be making NXL specific boards available.


The boards will be available in all current Chaos board formats. The board will function in an “enhanced semi auto” mode. The marker will cycle in semi auto mode as long as a rate of fire below 10bps is sustained. Once the trigger is pulled at a rate of 10bps the board will ramp to 15bps and maintain that rate of fire until the rate drops below 10bps. The firmware will be capped at a max rate of 15bps to comply with the NXL rules as well as being able to fire single shots when needed and ceasing to fire when the trigger is released.


Vaporworks is concerned with the fact that these boards could be used to cheat in a non-NXL environment. To help reduce the chance of these boards being used to cheat, we will be taking several preventative measures.


All NXL boards will be labeled with a nearly indestructible security tag marking the board itself as an NXL Specific board. Any attempt to remove this tag will remove key traces from the board and leave it inoperable.
Since there is no need to hide that the board is enhanced, the “ramping” mode will kick in at a very low ROF and be very obvious. Even the most untrained referees will be able to spot the enhancements.
Rate of fire will be capped at 15bps and no higher. This will increase safety, as well as discourage use in non-NXL gameplay as most boards are capable of firing at higher ROF’s in standard semi mode.

NXL firmware will not be public release as the other Chaos firmwares are. In order to update the board, it will be need to be sent to Vaporworks. This will prevent unmarked boards from being loaded with the NXL software.
