let me add that being on the merc team players probably assumed that we played on,del told us to step about 100 ft from the battle after being hit and then return.Being only 4 of us and the fact that we never stuck too long with one team or the other we didn't change the course of any battles by doing this. But to anyone seeing this it would be pretty easy to assume that we were cheating.Just wanted to add that so there would be no misconceptions about us.

I met up and found the guy who was shooting red paint, he said that he had no idea that it was illegal on the field. As soon as he knew, he went right back to put it up.

Aunt May is feeling much better and I would like to thank all of the citizens of Chicago for their generous support.

I think the cold weather had a little to do with the paint situation. But it might have been old or from a different factory than the brand we tested. Pay attention to the Shell colors and stick with the one you like. It makes a difference. Lesson learned.

The three teams was an interesting twist. I've always disliked three team games, because they almost always devolve into two teams ganging up on the other team. In this case, Yellow got hurt the worst. Fortunately the cops had the ability to deal fairly well with getting double-teamed.

Yes they did. I think the leak about the multi-gang deal cause the formation of the mafia League. Pay back is Heck.

I'd like to know what the exact numbers were on each team. I didn't feel like the cops had a big numeric advantage, but I could be wrong. I do know when Yellow and Red teamed up and hit us Saturday afternoon, I felt like there were bogies everywhere and they never seemed to stop. I think it was only the proximity of our insertion point that gave us the advantage when we finally retook the base.

35 each for the mobsters and 4police were at 51 I believe. I purposly placed insertion points for the police to add in retaking the lake county jail. You guys did good.

I have to agree with the complaint about Red having a long walk for reinsertion. I was in that situation at Stalingrad and I know from experience it sucks. I'm not sure what the solution is though except to make sure the missions are spread fairly uniformly across the field. Fortunately, Red didn't have to go back to the compound to reinsert. That would have multiplied the problem exponentially.

Yes the walk was tiring but they only had to do that walk when reinserting after being shot out defending there base. All other reinsertions were base area reinsertions. I paced (walked) the whole field off to determin still (barrell) placement, and I took the reinsertion times into account when placing the stills to balance this situation of the red team having a somewhat longer reinsertion time.

I did hear a lot of complaints about wiping but I personally never saw anyone wipe. As a member of the Brotherhood, I'd take pretty unkindly to a fellow brother wiping and would lobby hard to get them removed. I will say this about wiping. Sometimes things are not always as they seem. Once I was in a firefight and a guy swore up and down he hit me. The ball was traveling dead at me and would have scored a hit except it hit a tiny tree branch 4 feet in front of me. From his perspective, it probably looked like a clean break as I'm sure he could not see the tine branch. I also know that if a ball hits me somewhere I can't see it, I check myself by feeling the site for wet paint and someone could interpret that as wiping from a distance. So if a ball bounced off me and I feel for the wet paint, it could easily look like a wipe. When the weather is cold, lots of people wear extra clothing and that increases the number of bounces.

I personally believe this "everyone" is wiping myth has been blown to epic preportions. Give your fellow player some credit and dont prejudge him or her before you know what is up.

Worst problems I saw was overshooting. With the proliferation of fast, electronic semis and automatics, it seems people are hosing others down almost indescriminately. I was personally overshot once by someone who was 20 - 25 feet away and shooting at me through a tiny hole in a wall while I was basically in the open. I was hit around six times. There was no way I could have shot back at them if they had missed and if they did miss me from 20 - 25 feet away with one or two shots then they didn't deserve the elimination anyway. I know overshooting does happen, but there are circumstances where it should NOT happen and this was one of them.

Totally agree. Sceniaro situations are more intense and thus players are more on edge and more pron to overshoot first and ask questions later.

I also heard some complaints about the refs and game master giving away teams strategies to other teams though I never witnessed anything myself so it might not have happened. But I know most scenario players take the game as seriously as tournament teams and nothing sours a team on a field quicker than thinking refs are helping certain teams. Something all scenario refs need to keep in mind.

The one incident I was accused of sabotage (to my own "self-balancing" game design) was when I was seen speaking to a player from Damage Inc. Whom I had not seen in a year and the conversation was over his thoughts of this sceniaro's games design. Ironically I had just deposited several hundred play dollars at the race track which was policed by 8 blue players at the time. Blue was up to $3000 while red and yellow were sitting at $0 before I did this. All players see statement above about prejudging. I explained this afterward and all was resolved.

The cops had one scoring disadvantage that fortunately (for them) didn't affect the outcome but easily could have. Except for spinner missions, we had no scoring opportunities in which we could initiate. We could only intercept the mob teams running hooch. We could not run it ourselves for points.
There were some police initiated "missions" in the paper. Ask Mrs. Harlow. lol
All others were reactive that is true.

I think the number of spinner missions should have been stepped up a bit. At least one per hour would have been better. They could have been run as often as one every thirty minutes.

Noted.

The newspapers were a really nice touch!

You know, I just have to say.

The funniest thing at mobwars was how every time I met up with the mercinaries, they all had these funny grins and big smiles -especially spydy and were discussing some grusome battle or betrayal or thinking about doing one. -lol

I recall steers walking down around antietam. We see him. We RUN after him screaming like idiots and firing just as fast. He didnt last long.

We were constantly plotting against everyone. Even if we were helping them we were plotting a way to hurt them.

Stories from the field

One of the best stories I had involved a player from the Red team who Del reported to me was a real hero for them. I have NO IDEA what his name is, but he apparently carried the water heater solo from our base to red base and went back and got some other props, too. He's also the one who found the 3 locks of hair worth a total of 1500 points... anyway, here's the story.

About 10 minutes after we drove the mobs out of our base, red started making another good-sized (about 15 players) push towards our base from their base and they were concentrated on the hill with almost no one holding their flank in the creek area. One of the Shadow Co. guys (who unfortunately will also go nameless) accompanied me down low and we steamrolled through the 3 guys they had on that flank. The Shadow Co. guy then fell back to our base, not realizing that a knot of 6-7 reds was still engaged 150 feet away over the ridge. I rushed over the ridge and right onto their flank and got two quick elims. I then advanced on the next knot of players and the heroic red mentioned above spotted me. Suddenly he starts running dead at me with no gun and something in his hand. I stare at him trying to discern what mayhem he might have in store and ask myself, "is that a grenade? No... it looks like a pod... an open pod... how odd." As I'm trying to figure out what the heck he's doing I'm not shooting him. He runs up to about 20 feet and flings the paintballs of this half-empty pod at me and shouts "YAAAHHH!!!!" and then runs for his life. I bust a gut laughing can't bring myself to shoot at him until he's made it about 35' away. I quickly eliminate the guy who was next to him before his insane assault and then go over to chat with the guy. While we're having a good laugh about it (it turns out he was out of air), I suddenly notice there are still 3 reds about 40 feet away, who have yet to notice the commotion. I mopped them up and then had a good laugh about "the charge of the pod brigade" with the pile of reds before they begin the trek to their base.

The second story was during the actual breakout and retaking of our base. Red was mostly absent at the time, and most of the resistance was from yellow. When I removed my plug and started a dash for the base, it looked like I would only have to push through 2-3 guys between the village and Lake City Jail. I started the dash by running up on a guy at the post office and shooting him while he was engaging some one (I think it was Madden) down in the valley towards POW camp. I started peaking around to pick my line to the base when I noticed 3 reds on the other side of the post office from me. I could see them from my window, through the other side's window, about 20 feet away and splattered them. I'm not sure how many of them I shot or were eliminated from the creek area when they broke cover to hide from me.
So I dashed over to the next hut (it's the one in the middle of the 3 that are closest to Lake City Jail.. I forget which bulding that is), and took a cautious peek, gun first around the corner. It turns out I have my barrel about 6 inches from some dude's chest and I blurt out "surrender!" He stammers, "errrr uuuhhh" and I jabbed my hand out and say you're under arrest. I start to get moving again and suddenly I notice there is a kid RIGHT BEHIND HIM that I didn't even see. I'm not sure the kid knew I was a blue because I reach around the first guy and arrested him, too. After I arrest him, i notice that there is ANOTHER yellow (with his back to me) at the next hut up. I shoot that guy and run up to that hut to take his position and notice two more guys at the pyramid bunker about 30 feet away. So I shoot out those guys, too! At last the path is clear to base! So I beat feet up to there and notice more paint flying my way from the pyramid. When I get to the base I turn and notice that there are ANOTHER two guys at the pyramid who were on the other side. After a 30 second or so exchange I get those guys out, too. Luckily, they couldn't switch to the under side of the bunker because they were under fire from the rest of the blues still deep inside the village. I start to move toward the evidence room to look for more bad guys down towards the creek when 3 yellows come dashing up to reinforce the base. Those poor guys got shot at about 10-15 feet and immediately start screaming at gesticulating at me, accuding me of incredible stupidity. It takes me a little while to explain to them that I am, in fact, a cop and not a member of a mob, hence why I shot them. While I'm in this exchange, a red takes the wall behind me and absolutely scorches me across the middle of the fort. So I reclaimed our fort about about a minute. It was about 5 minutes later that we took it completely and finally ended the siege. All told I racked up 11-13 elims, 2 of them tags, in a span of maybe 2 minutes. Good stuff.

EDIT: Some typos
