i was lookiing at metal-something-or-other-weekly and one of the guys assterted that he felt that the "new" or rising metal musicians were being held back by all of the legends (read: AC/DC, Ozzy, Slayer...etc) And I couldnt help but thinking how much these legends have dragged the new comers along on ridiculously long tours and gotten them in magazines etc... So granted no one shreds like slayer...and there albumn that came ou this year...wasnt that bad. But how can you argue that no one appreciates the legends when the legends are still headlining all of the tours?
But i enjoy watching the current scene unfold in columbia where i can go watch some really strange metal bands play some not particularly great metal but hey its real and its cheap.
as far as moving forward i am particularly addicted to a band called "isabelles gift"
www.bloodhoundgang.com their music revolves around the perenial topics including drugs, sex, booze, drogs, and rock n roll. I find this band to be particularly pleasing because while having sold out they did buy their soul back and refuse label input on their last cd. (American Idle - 2006) This band brings a blend of Metal, Punk, and country to the table.Think AC/DC shaking hands with Lynard Skynard.
PS. deepfreeze you just described A LOT of bands makes me think of korn though...
