Boy Cart, you hit on the number one thing you should be concerned about. The best thing that you could do is get yourself the really good mask. Cheaper masks tend to fog up, especially in the summer, the rule of thumb is “you can’t shoot what you can’t see.

The only thing you need is a mask. The rest of the equipment is optional. Heck, you can even surrender someone with a stick and not have a gun. Most of the people I have known that bought a chest protector ended up getting rid of it or letting it collect dust after a short period of time.

"A stick"

So that's what I saw you playing with in Ocala.

Yep, definitely get a good mask. Only other thing I'd think about would be a neck protector and gloves. I don't use either, expecially the gloves. Takes a lot of shots to the hand for me to toss gloves on for the remainder of a day, just hate being out of touch with my gun.

By far, the most important piece of gear is your mask from a safety standpoint and from a "quality of game" standpoint. Get a top quality mask with a top quality lens and you will enjoy the sport a lot more than the next guy shooting blindly because they cannot see through the fog.

helmet???

helmet right? lol actually i seen this guy back in the day use a motorcycle helmet to play paintball. i would wear a cheast protector if i could find one that wouldnt pull and shift when i am doing my "pete rose" slide all over the place. dye or jt elbow/forearm and knee/shinguard pads are also a good idea, speaclly whne playing in Big Touneys (i.e HIGH ROF) i mean why make paintball hurt more than it has to. thats why you get good fast, so you dont get shot..

but yes as stated by just about everyone. GET A GREAT MASK!

i use gloves, because usually i take hand hits. the funny thing is, my hand isnt sticking out at all, compare to my elbow. i play my gun tight though, even when i play loose.
