Trying to keep this on topic; I think price is a huge driving force for me. I used less than 500 balls last weekend with my Phantom, $50 for one case for one day verses $12.50 for each day. It needed a spring (low fps) so I called cci. The parts guy/technician/owner sent me four, two heavy and two light, for three dollars (that included shipping).

For me, “Old School” is not just about what marker you use it is about how you play the game.
For example, my primary marker is a PPS Stroker in pistol mode. Sometimes I use a custom spring feed, but most of the time I use a motorized hopper on top. This does not mean I shoot any more, it just allows me to not have to worry about reloading. Heck, most of the time I can go a whole day with one hopper. And I also run the Stroker with a 20oz. on a remote. This too simply lets me not have to worry about air. Again, for me Old School it is about the style of play, not the chosen marker or setup.

I started playing back when a PGP was considered a good paintball gun... at least compared to a Splatmaster.
Actually, I don't at all miss 12 gram CO2 cartridges at all. Those things were a pain in the behind and expensive to boot. I thought Constant Air was the biggest boon to paintball to ever happen. And I don't think I have the temprament to go back to a rocker either. But a Constant Air pump with a small hopper is my next purchase of a paintball gun. I'm tempted to convert my 'cocker to a Sniper but I do enjoy having the ability to lay down some paint on occasion. I can save your bacon when a bad guy pops up out of no where. I wish it was easier to convert back and forth from 'cocker to Sniper.

I like playing pump because it really challenges me to make that first shot count. Especially with one of the guys I play recball with. He shoots about 17-18 a second and he will charge when someone is not watching (mostly woodsball) it makes me take that extra moment to make sure my first ball is on target, cuz if not, then well...it's not pretty on my end of the deal.
Drew Also you can run faster  |
