How about an original SL-68 circa 1988. Everybody though I was a stud because I had a 14" barrel for it. It also sported Constant Air (a 7 ounce CO2 tank for you newbies) and an Auto-Trigger (You could hold down the trigger and pump it to fire). Both were considered high tech at the time.

For the life of me, I can't remember what NAPRA stands for (early Alzheimers I guess) but I am, or was, a NAPRA certified referee #256

Lively Productions was Jim Lively's tournament production company. At the time, he competed with and eventually supplanted IPPA. (International Paintball Player's Association) I was also a member of IPPA for a few years.

Best I can recall, Lively ran into financial problems and went out of business.

And on the pedestal these words appear:

Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains: round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away

NAPRA = North American Paintball Referee Association. This was a great organization that set standards for safety and rules. All NAPRA refs were required to be at the minimum to be currently CPR certified and if I remember right head refs had to be First Response certified.

I guess age effects individuals differently Aerion could remember his number but not what the abbreviation meant and I can remember what the abbreviation meant but I can not remember my number (in the 300's I think).

You are old school if you ever played paintball had to wrap your head with rags before full face goggles came out. Vanguard could have been mistaken for a Mosque when I first played in 91' .

You know your old wwhen...

You can still recall when

1.) you only had a choice of two colors, Blood red
and Aqua Blue.

2.) It took mineral spirits to get the spots off your
clothes.

3.) When 2 12 grams and 3 ten round tubes of paint
was enough for a whole days play.

4.) You bought your first six 12 gram cartridge wrist
band.

5.) somoene showed you how to modify the 007 using
a wood dowel, a copper tee and a couple wood screws
into a gravity feed model.

That's right, the Splatmater was also an early gun. It came
complete with a pair of Uvex shop goggles. Then along came
the Rapide, which had a rotating magazine which held 20 rds.
That was a great pistol, but it wasn't easy to find a holster
that could hold it. If I'm not mistaken the PGP also came along
about then as well. All metal, like the Nelspot 007. My only
wish now is that I'd hung onto all those old models, if only so
I could show them off to all these new players, who think you
have to be able to shoot 20 BPS, otherwise it's no fun. Wish
they could all see what they missed.

Thumper,

Sure has been a long time. You're sure going back when you talk
about Team SWAT and Hugh. Hope time has treated you well and
that you're still showing them how to do it right.
Drop me a note c/o my e-mail and be sure to include a ph number,
so I can touch base and get you caught up with everything that's
happening. Might be some fun things you and the team may want
to look into.
