Let's take up a collection, and fly them to PB Chas and let them see how they run a game, and ask them afterwards if they still think it promotes violence... Sheesh.. the ignorance of some of our elected officials is overwhelming. Though, I can almost understand them not wanting this on city property. At least they didn't outlaw paintball altogether.

Good and fair decision. The sport will not be well served on public property (don't go there, Brian...). Keep the sport on private property, where the appropriate industry standards can be followed. This could be an unfair advantage to the owner/operator of the field, or it could negatively affect the sport with injuries or a business failure. Too many unknowns. Keep private enterprise on private property.

PS: An industry driven by paintball players, for paintball players, is better than an industry driven by non-paintball players for dollars.

Here are some interesting quotes.

But Police Chief Matt Immler worries about the paintball park promoting violence. The game involves gun-toting combatants firing paint pellets using compressed gas-powered guns.

"I think the issue now is that, as a city, we're trying to promote wholesome activities," Immler said. "I think the activity we should associate ourselves with is not the type where you'd go around shooting someone with a gun. It's warfare of some sort."

Warfare of some sort indeed. I play paintball and I am regularly called off to go to war. There is no comparing paintball to war and someone who says something like that obviously has no idea what they are talking about.

Now for a different point. Are these the people you want in charge of a paintball field?

I have been to Government run paintball fields before with the military. They are run by the Morale Welfare and Recreation division of the army. I have yet to see one field that is run as well as a private field. The people who run them have no idea what they are doing in paintball and the concept of safety isn't really in there at all. No netting, no mandatory GOGGLES ON portion of the field, not wearing goggles at the chrono station, no chrono stations and a million other safety violations that can easily be fixed. Now when you try to bring these points up they stare at you like you have a male reproductive organ growing out of your forehead generally giving you the response of "Dude I just work here."

In my opinion I would be worried about any public paintball field.
