Maltese Militia to help out the troops

The Maltese Militia is joining forces with Cell Phones for Soldiers to collect old cell phones to provide minutes for our troops to call home. At all events that the Maltese Militia is attending, we will have a dropoff box available for anyone wishing to donate an old phone. Look for our banner, or see any member of the team in attendance.

With one of our members on the short list to be deployed to Iraq, and several of our friends already deployed, we wanted to help in some way that would directly support the troops.

Cell Phones for Soldiers hopes to turn old cell phones into more than 12 million minutes of prepaid calling cards for U.S. troops stationed overseas in 2007. To do so, Cell Phones for Soldiers expects to collect 15,000 cell phones each month through a network of more than 3,000 collection sites across the country. The phones are sent to ReCellular, which pays Cell Phones for Soldiers foreach donated phone – enough to provide an hour of talk time to soldiers abroad. If you have an old phone lying around and want to make it possible for one of our troops to call home please bring it to any event that the Militia is attending. Include the battery and any accessories that you may have. If you are not going to be at the same event as the Militia, you can get info on where to drop off the phones at the web page linked below.

Further info can be found at: http://www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com/index.html

Thanks

Do you have an address or anything that someone could mail their old cell phone too? I'd like to support it but driving from WI seems pretty illogical.

Here are a location for the drop-off sites:
Cell Phones for Soldiers - Locate a Drop-Off Center

This is a great idea, I was planning on getting new cell phones for the family before the end of the year, drop the old ones off at a drop-off site.
