This story is a joke...The father wants blah, blah.. Sounds like a law suit is coming.
There could be a nasty trend created by something like this. I can see lots of moms and dads coming to us saying my son didn't shoot anyone this game and it isn't fair! I paid good money for him to shoot someone!

it sounds to me that a father is just being overprotective. If it was a teen with an "automatic" paintball gun im sure his adrenaline was really going as he came around the corner to shoot whoever was behind it. He probably didnt know it was a kid and popped off a few rounds to ensure that he would hit him

Well this is a problem with young speed baller types...I can solve this problem...only let young gunners use pumps...that way no over shooting which most of you know is prevelent with simi auto markers today which can shoot more that 17 ball a second...
I beleave that teenagers don't realize the problem they can cause a paintball business when there having to much fun spraying the nubies...Obviously the paintball business dosn't either...until now...
This is also the reason I always ware a neck protector...Shots to the wind pipe area are dangerious.

RAISE THE MINIMUM AGE TO 18 !!!!! How many eye's did I just open? If this clown sues and wins anything at all, is this a possibility?? The field owner may not have a choice if his hand is forced.

I think the father should teach his son how to cover his head and neck and learn to yell HIT or OUT and abid by the waiver he signed for the kid!!

I beleive that some parents can't wrap their heads around the fact that our sport is not a cushy, nice, let's all hug kind of sport. You go home with bruises, sometimes you bleed a bit. There's nothing wrong with it. Somtimes people (Not just teens) do take it a little too far but generally a good ego check helps keep people under control. These guys went overboard and while it's sad to see it, it's just one of those things that happen on the paintball field.

I do notice that a lot of bad press is coming out of florida these days though.

Here is a thought....should first timers or newbe's (I hate that word) have escorts=ref's assigned to them espically to watch out for them...I did it when my oldest son first started playing at the age of nine years...if I was hit I put on an orange vest and watched him and gave him pointers...

At our old field that's what we normally did. A more experienced player would normally take on a squad of kids and lead them around the field. They were used to give pointers, keep them from bunching and to make sure that things didn't get out of hand.

Sir Rod you had a good point there in your writing though. You were there with your son playing. Too many parents think that the paintball field is daycare for their older kids. I mean what other sport is there that you have the chance to play together or against each other and generally be on the same level of skill.
