NPPL Gets MAJOR Coverage at San Diego
Even more San Diego coverage
In addition to the New York Times piece, every TV station in San Diego came to cover the event at least once, and four of the stations were here twice. The TV coverage, which began on Thursday, explains why there were such large crowds surging through the event.
TELEVISION
ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, WB and CNN fed by its indie affiliate all broadcast pieces including interviews. The total audience for these broadcasts exceeds 5 million viewers regionally and included multiple repeats of the coverage on each of the stations. Fox’s nationally syndicated reports will reach some 12 million viewers across the country.
ABC’s coverage aired on its 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm newscasts, reaching over a million viewers. FOX 6’s coverage on two separate days yields another 500,000 viewers plus its Fox NewsEdge feed which will be seen nationwide. The WB covered with a special feature by its sports director, reaching an audience of at least 400,000. CBS reported the event on Thursday and again on Sunday, reaching more than a million viewers. NBC’s segment captured an additional 200,000. Finally, KUSI, an indie affiliate associated with CNN, produced a piece on Friday and transmitted live coverage on Sunday plus a news report that night, reaching an additional half a million viewers.
NEWSPAPERS
The New York Times has a circulation of approximately 2 million nationally that equals at least 5 million readers. In addition, there is a great possibility this story will be printed in Europe in the Times-owned International Herald-Tribune. The circulation of the Herald-Tribune worldwide is about 2 million.
The San Diego Union-Tribune sent reporter Diane Lindquist to cover the event. The Union-Tribune has circulation of 350,000 which is equal to over one million readers. In addition the story will be on the Union-Tribune website, which gets up to 2 million hits per day. The newspaper from San Luis Obispo sent a still photographer on Friday for evening coverage. The paper has a circulation of 50,000.
As unbelievable as it may seem, the exposure brought in from Media coverage of this event will be reaching a potential 30 MILLION Viewers/Readers worldwide by mid-week. Needless to say the NPPL and Pure Promotions are very pleased with the outstanding coverage of the event, underscoring the extraordinary media response that we expect in the coming year.
On behalf of the NPPL and Pure Promotions, we thank you for all of your support of the Super 7 World Series throughout the year and look forward to an amazing season together in 2005.
