How utterly tragic... I'm at a loss for words. It makes me realize how fortunate we are. With my closest friends in the world being firefighters, it really puts things into perspective and shows how fragile life can be. They and their families are in our prayers...

To give those an update who were at Tarawa and Casino Royale this year and run with/against "Dog Company" (comprised primarily of Charleston area firefighters) all members that make up that team are okay. There were a few minor injuries, cuts, minor burns and a possible broken hand but otherwise good.

I, as well as many of the members of DC, knew these guys well and we are coping with the loss together.

No one wishes for a tragedy like this, or for a loss of any kind; but in the light of such an event I figured you would like to hear that many of the guys you have rubbed elbows & exchanged some paint bruises with are okay and doing good.

Thank you for taking the time to update us and I am very happy to hear you guys are okay. Please know that our thoughts are with you and yours during this and that we appreciate what you do for us as firefighters. This was very sad news to hear.

I second this, Junkie... Let's get as many people as we can to participate in this. Palmetto Paintball will help out if it means donating paint, etc. But, let's put on an event where all proceeds go to the families, and put a good light on paintballers.

I'll start a thread!

As a Charleston Firefighter I would like to on behalf of everyone thank you all for the support. We go back on shift tomorrow with the loss of eight brothers from our shift. One brother was lost from todays shift.

All nine of the Firefighters were great guys. Would do anything for anyone at anytime with expecting nothing in return. May God Bless them all.

July 14 Benefit for Our Firefighters

I spoke with Skeeter earlier this afternoon to let him know that I was not only interested in playing the game but in helping them raise money for the families of those brave men who lost their lives in the line of duty. I am going to try and put together a prize package to be auctioned off, and included in that will be 2 cases of paint and free entry into all the remaining 2007 MPP games and for next year's series in 2008. This tragedy is close to our hearts as our son is a firefighter, and we understand what their bravery, commitment to duty, and self-sacrifice stand for. It also has touched a friend of ours and fellow paintball player, Russ with OmniForce, who knew some of the men.

We are proud to see the paintball community stepping forward to help, like a band of brothers.

I look forward to seeing everyone at PB Charleston on July 14, and hope that other field owners and players from all over the southeast will get behind this event. Let's get the word out asap.

I wish to offer my sincerest condolences to the families of the lost firefighters. May God bless each of you during this trying time. I will not be able to participate in the benfit game but I pledge to do what I can to assist. Can anyone advise of a direction to send assistance to? Thanks in advance and thanks to those brave men for their selfless service.
