Once again the basic issue is someone not taking responsibility for their actions and wanting the government to outlaw being stupid. This to me is equivalent to someone improperly loading their own ammunition, having their gun explode, and wanting the government to outlaw self loads for guns.
The government can pass laws like requiring guns to be sold with a trigger lock, but I feel it should be the individual's responsibility to purchase a trigger lock and use it rather than having a law telling everyone to use common sense.

sounds like another lawsuit happy californian to me. it was clearly an acident and he got 8mil from the manufacturer. now hes gonna start another lawsuit becase the companys web site isnt updated with a warning. if thats the case why doesnt he sue every manufacturer of co2 and hpa bottles since the hazard can be associated with all of them..... my 2 cents.

Rebuttal to New York Times Article

Press Release
Sewell, NJ October 6, 2007

On Friday, an article appeared in the New York Times regarding a lawsuit that Mr. Contois would be bringing against KEE Action Sports for failure to abide by a settlement agreement relating to an unfortunate and tragic incident that occurred in California in February, 2004. First and foremost, we extend our deepest sympathies to Mr. Contois and his family for their loss. When KEE Action Sports purchased certain assets of National Paintball Supply in November 2006, we were advised by National Paintball Supply and its owner, Mr. Eugenio Postorivo, that the lawsuit with Mr. Contois had been settled. Pursuant to our agreement, Mr. Postorivo represented that all obligations to Mr. Contois had been satisfied and National Paintball Supply retained all liability with respect to the Contois matter, including all obligations under the settlement agreement, an agreement to which KEE was not a party. KEE Action Sports is committed to ensuring the safety of our sport and industry. We have reached out to Mr. Contois to determine how we might work together to advance our shared goals.

This is a tragic shame for the Husband, Son, and all Paintball.
I have on more than one occasion stopped exactly what happened to the wife by just being observent. Im my time ive seen players of all ages doing just what took this lady's life. Mostly it was the novice player not aware it only takes about 4 turns to unattach a gas supply from the ASA of any marker...Very sad.

I don't let my kid go get refills on c02 tanks because of unsafe players.
I go do it myself because I don't want some kid with more brains then common sense unscrewing their home-anti-siphon valve from their tank and killing my kid. Notice the word "kid"...that can represent guys in their 50's as well. The "DIY" culture on the net is a curse and a blessing.

Fields need to step up and give real safety briefings that include tank safety.
Either we players and fields do it, or Uncle Nanny will, and I for one don't want that. I really feel for that poor husband. He's handling this better than I would.
