Paintball device allegedly starts brush fire

Victorville,CA,USA

This weekend, four men engaged in a very heated game of paint-ball -- a little too heated.

On Sunday, June 10, the San Bernardino County Fire Department battled a fire that allegedly started due to a smokescreen-creating device used in paint-ball games near the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Summit Valley Road.

LOL its been years ago now but at a field in St Petersburg Fl. where we were playing, a fire was set accidently by a military smoke grenade. It was reported in the StPete times as "survivalist training" had done the deed...The report I just read was very similer to what was reported back then....

Hot Smoke or pyrotecnic smoke and military smoke grenades are ignited by lighting a fuse either by pulling a pin or a match to fuse...

Oh Yea, let's see...set fire to the cow pasture behind my 30 acre field with a misguided parachute flare to signal the end of a scenario game in 2003. Watched an area that had just been lumbered behind Campbelot's (hosting field) paintball field started by a smoke grenade that was tossed into the brush during a final battle. Ran across Paintball Commands (another hosting field) field during a final battle after again...a smoke grenade was tossed into a brush area to enhance the battle. Yea, it did...LOL!
We haven't used smoke for awhile now, but plan on checking out a new product that does not require a lighter to ignite a fuse. Wonder what we will burn down with this one! LOL!!

"Cold Smoke" isn't really cold. It just means you don't have to have a match to start the combustion. ALL smoke is HOT. At DEA vs Cartel we threw a 500,000 cubic foot grenade in the middle of the road and it almost melted the asphalt. It was "cold smoke".

And the heat inside the smoke was so intense, that you could see through the aluminum casing (tranparent aluminum).
