It seems like you can cause injury to anyone with anything. Making it harder to obtain a paintball gun won't solve the problem of idiots trying to cause harm to others. Throwing rocks at people can cause the same injury, and that's impossible to stop. This is just like that paintball video we all watched a few weeks ago with the kids riding in the car shooting people, its just this time an accident occurred. I wish there was a way to prevent idiots harming people, and restricting the sales of paintball guns might help, but it surely won't come close to stopping it.

Its awful that this girl lost her eye due to the actions of these fools. I hope her mother gets her wish, and the ones responsible apologize face to face. Maybe when they see what they've done, they'll know how much pain they have caused.

I don't have a big problem with it, as far as my personal use. I love paintball and will do what it takes to make sure that paintball is safe and fun for all. My problem is in the way that the bill is worded. (I will find it and post it as soon as I can...) It will classify ANY thing that can propel an object (projectile) forward as a handgun. This could mean nerf dart guns, spray paint cans, and yes, paintball guns.

I believe that paintball, when played with recommended/required safety rules observed, is one of the best sports out there. It only takes a few people NOT using paintball as a competitive sport on a field with proper equipment and rules to ruin it for those who are doing so. We have laws in place already to handle the miscreants that assaulted the woman in Canada, as I am sure that our northern friends do as well. Those people need to be tried for assault/attempted murder, or whatever the law there will allow. I just don't believe that we need to invent more laws everytime someone figures out a new way to assault someone. It just makes it one step more difficult for the honest players to continue playing. Of course, the law is for the lawless after all... so we are in a catch-22.

(o.k. I've rambled on enough... I'm going back to sleep now..)
I agree with you. Those kids make it hard on the yonger players like my age. I'm turning 16 this saturday and I've been playing for 2 1/2 years now. If they pass that law, that means no one under 21 can play because you have to be 21 to own/puchase a handgun and I don't think that it's fair. Just my 2c.

I totally agree with what you are saying here!! I was thinking the same thing as I read the posts before you. There is no way anyone could possibly say that it is okay for the government to require paintballers to go through a background check before you get a *&#@ paintball marker. That is the most stupid thing that I have ever heard.
Wow, i guess you can ramble on real quick on this subject.

Man, you sure said that one right...There's way too much government control in our everyday lives...we sure don't need to be licensed for spray paint, etc. It's tough enough to find good places to play even without all sorts of government intervention. I'm not an anti-government person, I just believe very strongly in the individual freedoms we have. That said, I also believe that an individual should be responsible for their actions. Find the twit that shot the woman, charge him/her with aggravated assault or assault with intent and hang the idiot.
Wow...How's that for a first post?
