Jim is stable and out of CCU; he has been moved into room 472. He is still running fevers as high as 103 and his heart rate only seems to spike when his fever goes up. They are keeping him on some very heavy duty antibiotics right now because he has VRE. VRE is a highly contagious bacterium that is resistant to most of the strongest medications out there. He can still have visitors however you have to wear a gown, gloves, and mask with seeing him and then make sure that you wash your hands really good when you leave. He is very weak right now so they are starting him on physical therapy and occupational therapy to try and get his strength back up.
They did end up removing his Groshnog due to the infection and ended up putting in a central line. He is still on the TPN through his central line because they were not able to get a feeding tube down his nose and he has started eating a little bit when he is awake.
We appreciate all of your support through these rough waters; your kind thoughts and prayers do not go unnoticed.
God Bless, Allison
