Pro-Team Products granted trigger patent
Pro-Team Products of Flagler Beach, Florida was granted a patent on a pneumatically assisted triggering system that has big implications for the paintball industry.
I knew about this patent a few weeks ago, but my sources wouldn't go into specifics nor would they say how broad the patent is. Patent # 6,802,305 , which was applied for in 2001 and granted on October 12th, 2004, describes a pneumatically assisted trigger system that utilizes a small ram to assist in lightening the trigger pull of a mechanically triggered paintball marker to make for a lighter and shorter pull. This patent has direct implications on the hAir trigger that's been under development for the Automag for some time. My sources indicate that this system can be adapted to any mechanically triggered paintball marker, and they noted that it could be very serious competition for electronically actuated markers. I contacted Steve Davidson, a long time employee of Pro-Team Products about this development, and he had no comment to make about the patent or how vigorously Pro-Team Products intends to enforce it. More information as it becomes available. Source:68caliber.com |

I applaud Forest for having the forethought to obtain his own patent for this. Maybe some of the other innovators of paintball will take his example and protect their ideas before someone else patents it gets "rich" off them.
