smoke bomb

I dont post on any other sections except for the Smart parts impulse one, but I knew there was gonna be a vast amount of new topics on the forums about this. I was the 3rd closest person to the smoke bomb. I have the video on my phone and will not distribute it to anyone in respect to Jeff and his family, the only people who have it is the police, and fire dept. I have been advised by the police not to distribute it, and thats all who need to see it for now. The only thing I can say about the video is Matt was literally less then 5-10ft away before being ingulfed by the explosion and the video cuts off 4 seconds shortly after explosion. Jeff one of my best friends was coming down the hill (50+ yards away) was hit by the flying debri, my other teammates where near the street 50+ yards and ducked after the explosion and could hear the debri flying into the trees, we even found chunks of PVC near our truck which was near the porta potties which was almost 100 yards away as well, no one was safe from this thing, I have no idea how me and Shaun made it out im clearly walking towards it in the video what looks like less then 20ft Shaun a bit closer, Shaun and I walked away with not being hit, I went deaf for about 10-15 seconds and heard nothing but ringing in my ears and then saw Matt bleeding then seeing Jeff bleeding from his face and eye and yelling about the pain. Im extremely distraught right now, the images from the blast and the next 10 minutes after keep replaying in my head which keep making me sick to my stomach!
I think everyone can agree that these things are very and extremely dangerous and have no business on paintball fields. I wish Jeff and his family the best and they are in my prayers, I hope Matt makes a speedy recovery, he's one tuff son of a gun, also a great job by the Hells staff for the quick response, very professional, along with the Emergency units involved....great job guys!

The smoke bombs, which were believed to have been purchased over the Internet, appeared to be roughly 36 inches long and about the circumference of a coffee can.
Dunno s ounds like they where freaking HUGE. That doesnt specifically sound like a smoke bomb as that wouldnt be tossable.

Sounds like they didnt have enough Sucrose in their mixture.

after reading the post above... It was a home made smoke bomb, and they definatly didnt have enough sugar in it. If it build up enough pressure to shred PVC in an explosion it was upwards of 200 PSI.

Not safe for paintbal use PFFT. Those things were home-made not purchased over the internet.

I mean look at wizard. He blew a cannon up in his face, and he realized what went wrong adapted and hasnt almost killed anybody since then... *that i know of*

here is a google cache of the website they bought it from.

Home

1st, The stuff they use to make smoke should NEVER be used in large quanties, as the Sugar is used to slow down the burning process so it just doesnt explode. If you get a bad mix... BOOM.

Second if you using PVC for something that burns, your a ****ing idiot.

I have to say that company is screwed..

Well from what I hear one of the guys might lose eyesight in one eye. Damn shame. People like these As* bags should be shot. They found a recipe online and thought hey we made some of these and they didnt blow up shoot we could make money off this.. One if you dont have a degree in Chemistry you probly should mix stuff that react's in this way. Two I hope there LLC cant protect these bastards, This is Gross neglect and they sould be held accountable.

This is a shame these guys got hurt, and we should be guarded about our comments till the whole story is out...

I read the comments under the article...

It just goes to show that any home made paintball equipment isn't safe.
"The Boss" Charles Hodge XPPaintball and son were injured by a homemade bazooka, brought by a customer into there pro shop, which exploded.
