SP signs license agreements w/ Virtue and Dangerous Power

From the nation:

In two press releases today, Smart Parts announced that Dangerous Power has signed on to Smart Parts patent/licensing program to manufacture electronic paintball guns, and Virtue has signed on seperately to license electronic boards.

Virtue @ ActionVillage.com

Smart Parts, Inc. and Virtue Paintball, LLC announced the signing of a patent license agreement giving Virtue Paintball a worldwide, non-exclusive license to make, sell, offer for sale, and distribute electronic control units for paintball guns covered by certain Smart Parts’ patents.

Smart Parts owns several U.S. and international patents and pending patent applications related to the use of electronics in the control and operation of paintball guns. These include, for instance, U.S. Patent Nos. 5,881,707; 5,967,133; 6,035,843; 6,474,326; 6,637,421; and 7,100,593, as well as patents and/or pending patent applications in numerous other countries.

Its a gun that is similar to a cheap ego. If I remember correctly it is an air forward spring return valve. They sell for around 400.00

Here we go again... SP has already lost the rights to enforce select components of their patents, and now they are up to the same old thing. You would think they would actually try to refine their hardware (which can be extremely good, on occasion) to be more competitive than to try to buy or "manufacture" patents to get rid of the competition. It is thought processes like this that stifle the industry. Poo on the ownership of SP!!!

PS: An industry driven by paintball players, for paintball players, is better than an industry driven by non-paintball players for dollars.

Dangerous Power is a subsidiary of Mac Dev. Their markers have been getting good reviews, but I have not seen them yet. The Dangerous Power Fusion Markers are to the Cyborg what the Etek is to the Ego, or PMR is to a PM7.

really? o wow that makes a huge difference, i (along with many other people i believe) are under the impression that dangerous power is just some startup kids making these markers, with a name like Mac Dev id almost consider one.
